Hi it's Catherine here from Lullaby Lodge. Today I'm going to show you how to crochet
0:03
granny circles and I will also give you the formula so that you can keep increasing your
0:08
circles as big as you would like them to be so make sure you watch to the end. I'm going to start by putting a slip knot on my hook
0:18
and chaining four and then going to join with a slip stitch to that first chain so form a ring
0:30
and then chain three. This chain three counts as our first double crochet
0:36
then I'm going to work 11 more double crochet into the ring for a total of 12 double crochet. Now I've worked over my tail as I've gone around and
0:51
then I can just pull that little bit just to tighten up the center. We're now going to join
0:55
with a slip stitch to the top of that chain three and we now have a total of 12 double crochet
1:01
Here I'm going to fasten off and change color. I'm going to join the next color
1:08
in any space between stitches so just push your hook in between two stitches
1:14
grab your yarn pull it through and then chain three. This counts as a double crochet
1:22
If you wanted to stay with the same color instead of fastening off you could just slip stitch into that space there. I'm now going to put another double crochet into the same space
1:31
then move over to the next space and put two double crochet and I'm going to repeat that all the way around and I'm also working over my tail as I go
1:48
I've worked all the way around two double crochets in each space between the stitches
1:53
and then I'm just going to join with a slip stitch to the top of that chain three. We will be finishing every round off in exactly the same way so I'm going to fasten off and change color again
2:06
For round three I'm going to join in a new color. This time it's going to be between the
2:11
groups of stitches so you have two double crochet in this space here and two in here
2:16
We go in the middle here, join in our new color, chain three, again counts as a double crochet
2:27
and now we're going to put two more double crochet into the same space. I'm going to skip over the next two stitches and find the next space
2:44
three double crochet in there. We're going to repeat this around the circle putting three double crochet into each space between our groups of stitches
2:55
And we're ready for round four so I'm going to join in a new color in any space
3:06
chain three, and this round is going to be a little bit different. We're going to put another three double crochet into that same space
3:25
So we've got four double crochet here, then go into the next space
3:30
and then four double crochet into the next space. So we've got four double crochet here, then going to move on to the next space, put three double crochet there
3:55
and then four double crochet into the next space. So we're going to repeat this around our circle, then the next three double crochet
4:04
four double crochet, three double crochet, and all the way around. Okay, we're ready to start round five and again we're going to join in a new color in any space
4:15
and chain three, and we're going to put two more double crochet in the same space
4:30
Okay, now we need to look at our circle. The next cluster of stitches here is just a normal granny
4:35
cluster of three stitches, so we're going to skip over that and put another three double crochet into the next space
4:52
And now we look at the next cluster of stitches and this has got four double crochet
4:57
and this has got four double crochet in here, so what we're going to do is we're going to put our next cluster of stitches in between. So we're going to put a double crochet
5:08
right in the middle of those two groups of stitches, so we're effectively splitting up
5:13
the four into two groups. So we're going to put two more double crochet in there
5:21
and we're going to continue around our circle putting three double crochet into each space
5:26
and every time we get to a group of four we're going to put three double crochet
5:30
in between those four stitches. Okay, for rounds six and seven we are going to simply repeat
5:37
rounds four and five once more. Okay, so I've gone ahead and done round six and seven
5:43
now rounds eight and nine are going to be the two rounds that you repeat in order to keep increasing
5:49
your circle in size to whatever size you want. So I'm going to join as usual
5:58
chain three, and I'm going to put three double crochets in the same space
6:10
for a total of four. Now in the next space I'm going to put three double crochet, and then in the following space
6:17
three double crochet, and then the space after that four double crochet. That's what you're
6:23
going to repeat around four, three, three, four, three, three, four, all the way around. Okay
6:32
so I finished round eight and before we move on to round nine I'm going to explain the formula
6:38
For increasing your circle. So round eight here we've got two lots of three and one four
6:47
The next time you do an increase round you'll have one, two, three lots of three, then a four
6:53
and repeat that around. The following one it'll be four, and then five, and so on. In round nine
7:01
as normal we're going to put three double crochet in each space and once we get to a group of four
7:06
we'll put three in there as well. If you need some more information you can check out the
