You may think of Professor X as the benevolent, paternal leader of the X-Men, but the character has done some things in the comics that really don't make him look like much of a hero. Sure, he knows the dangers of working alongside a team of mutants, but actually writing out a plan that tells you how to defeat them is clearly a terrible idea, and he plays favorites with his students in an incredibly uncomfortable way.
