We take it for granted that we now live in a world where offbeat comic characters like Starro, Groot, and Mister Mind can make it to the big screen, but geeks of a certain age remember a time when we weren't so lucky, and cinematic superhero fare was limited to (admittedly great) movies about Superman and Batman.
