Given the checkered history of video game movies, the success of "Sonic the Hedgehog" came as a bit of a surprise. And, of course, with any video game movie comes plenty of references to the games that inspired it all. Naturally, "Sonic 2" features a number of smaller references and blink-and-you'll-miss-it Easter eggs that aren't as easy to catch on a first watch as the moment when Sonic says "Gotta go fast." Even some of the film's larger plot points take on new meaning for those with an understanding of the preexisting "Sonic" lore.
