Free $10,000 Roof Upgrade in Louisiana — But the Deadline Is Friday
Jun 18, 2026
Louisiana homeowners can get up to $10,000 for a hurricane-resistant roof through the Fortify Homes Program — but registration closes Friday, June 19. Here's exactly how to enter before time runs out.
This isn't a typical grant. It's a lottery. You register, your name goes into a drawing, and selected homeowners get the funding to upgrade to the stronger FORTIFIED roof standard. The timing matters: this expansion landed in the middle of an active Gulf hurricane season.
🆕 Five parishes are newly eligible:
✅ Acadia
✅ Iberville
✅ Jefferson Davis
✅ Lafayette
✅ Washington
Plus expanded portions of eight more: Ascension, Calcasieu, Iberia, Livingston, St. Martin, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa, and Vermillion.
📄 Have these ready before Friday:
🔹 Homestead exemption (proves it's your primary residence)
🔹 Insurance declarations page with wind coverage
🔹 Flood insurance declarations page — only if you're in a flood zone
⚠️ Two things people miss:
You must create a profile at ldi.la.gov/fortifyhomes — that's separate from registering.
Entered before and weren't picked? You have to re-register. Old entries don't carry over.

👉 Live in one of the new parishes? Tell us in the comments if you're entering — and share this with a neighbor who needs a stronger roof before the next storm. Thanks for watching, and don't wait — Friday comes fast.
