In this lesson I'm going to walk you through through two more major chords that
0:29
is E major and A major. These are new shapes and we haven't covered that yet
0:35
Until now we have covered C major, D major and G major
0:39
Now we're going to add to our arsenal E major and A major as well
0:44
So let's look at these shapes. Let's first look at E major
0:48
So to play an E major, your first finger goes on to the first fret of your third string
0:53
Your second finger goes on to the second frit of your fifth string and your third finger goes on to the second fret of your fourth
0:59
Now you pick all the six strings and you play the E major chord
1:09
I hope you're getting a good clear and ringing sound of all the strings
1:18
If you're getting buzz, something like this or maybe like this, mutate strings
1:25
then figure it out. Probably you are not pressing hard enough with your fingers of your left hand
1:29
of your left hand or your fingers are touching other strings. So if you're getting a buzz on the sixth string
1:35
probably your second finger is touching the six string. You need to figure out what is happening and what is causing the burst
1:41
and eliminate it until unless you get this clear ringing sound. So let's practice E major chord
1:54
What we are going to do is the basic regime that we have been doing till now
1:57
down beat on your first beat for four bars then we're going to move to first beat and third beat with a down stroke all right and then we are going to do down stroke on first second third and fourth all the four beats and we are going to repeat it for four bars so i'm going to count you in and let's start one two three four down two three four again down two three four down two three four down two three four down two three four
2:27
and down. All right. I hope you got a clear and ringing sound out of this
2:34
You can also do these exercise with a metronome. Set your metronome at 60 bpm or 70 bpm
2:39
and start doing these exercises onto the metronome. If you don't know how to use a metronome
2:45
we have a lesson on that, and you can find the link in the description box
2:49
on how to use a metronome. So now let's do the exercise where we hit the downstop on the first beat and the third beat
2:56
All right? Let me count you in. One, two, three, four. Down, two, three, four
3:03
Down, two, three, four. Down, two, three, four. Down, two, three, four
3:12
And down. Easy, right? Now I'm pretty sure you have got a hold of it
3:19
You have been exercising through all the previous lessons in which we did the C major, the G major
3:25
the D major and your A minor chord as well. Now let's do downstroke on all the four beats
3:31
All right, let me count you in. One, two, three, four. One, two, three, four
3:39
One, two, three, four. Down, down, down, down, down, down, down, down, down
3:51
All right. That is your E major chord. Now let's move on to the A major shape
3:57
Now to play the A major shape, you can either use your first three fingers, that are your first finger, your second finger and your third finger
4:03
or you can use your second finger, your third finger and your fourth finger
4:07
I suggest you play A major with your second, third and fourth finger. Let's look how to do that
4:12
Now A major is a five string chord That means you pick the first five strings and the 6th string that is your top string stays muted So this will be muted throughout
4:24
All right, you do not pick that. And to fret in A major chord, it's this shape
4:30
So how you do that? Your second finger goes onto the second frit of your 4th string
4:36
Again, your third finger goes onto the second frit of your 3rd string
4:42
and your fourth finger goes on to the second frit of your second string
4:47
All the three fingers are on the same frit, if you can see
4:51
This is on the second frit throughout. You can also bar it, but we will learn that in future lessons
4:58
As of now, use your three fingers on the same frit. Once again, your second finger on the second frit of the fourth string
5:06
third finger on the second frit of the third string, and your fourth finger on the second frit of your second string
5:12
string all right now to play a major you need to pick from fifth thing to the first string
5:17
it will be a little bit challenging to get a clear and ringing sound from a major at first
5:30
because all the fingers are in the same thread so you're you need to tighten up all
5:36
all these fingers and use them if you're finding it really difficult to use your
5:42
pinky finger as of now. You can also use your first finger instead of your pinky finger
5:48
So then the chord shape would be your first finger goes on to your fourth string
5:53
Your second finger goes on to the third and your third finger goes on to the second string
5:57
All right? You can also use this but I do not advise to go with this shape because in future you will
6:06
when you grow and advance you will start using the other shape. So now why I'm saying to use your second
6:12
third and fourth finger is very logical. If we use our second third and fourth finger
6:17
then what we can do is we can just slide our fingers down two frits
6:21
That is, we can slide the same shape to the fourth frit
6:25
and put our first finger on the first string of the second frit here
6:29
And we can now play the B chord as well. All right
6:37
If you would have been playing with your first finger, your second finger and your third finger
6:41
your second finger and your third finger the shape of a chord then if you slide down here
6:45
you will not be able to play the b chord so that's the advantage of using your second third
6:52
and fourth finger while playing your a major chord so now let's practice a major chord the same
6:58
routine again downstroke on the first beat all right let's do this for four bars let me count you in
7:05
one two three four down two three four Down two, three, four
7:14
Down, two, three, four. Down, two, three, four and down. All right, let's do down stroke on your first and your third strokes for the A major
7:30
Get ready with your positions. If you are feeling uncomfortable, relax for a minute, then come back again
7:36
So let's do that. One, two, three, four. Down two, down four, down two, down four
7:47
One, two, three, four. One, two, three, four and down. All right
7:56
We can do the same exercise again for a wet down soak on all the four beats
8:01
Let's do that. So hold your A major chord and let me count you in
8:06
One, two, three, four. One, two, three, four. one two three four one two three four three three four three four four two three four four two three four and one all right so that is your e major and your a major so until now we have covered all the open major chord shapes that are in there for the open chords All right So now we know A major All right You also know the B major
8:43
If you slide it down two frets on the fourth string and get your first finger on the second fret of the first string
8:50
Again, this B major is a five string chord. All right? This is a B major
8:56
We have done the C major in previous lessons. That is all right next comes your d major it's a four string chord next your e major we just did all the six strings
9:18
all right next is your f major it's this is an advanced chord and we will learn it in the future
9:26
lessons it's actually a bar shape so we will do that in future lessons and after that comes your g major
9:36
and the other variant of g major all right so we have covered all the major chord shapes till now in all the
9:47
lessons from first till now we have done all the major chord shapes now you can play nearly thousands of
9:54
song if you Google them you will get a lot of songs but today we learned e major and a major
10:02
as a new major chords so let's do one song that uses e major and a major so the song that uses
10:09
e major and a major is still haven't found by youtube it also uses b major in the chorus and i'm just
10:19
going to show you how it goes i will not be able to play the complete song because of youtube
10:24
copyright policies, but I will definitely show you how you can play it. All right
10:29
The song starts on an E major chord and it goes like, All right
11:38
is how the song goes actually but we haven't learned down and upstruck and rhythm patterns as of now
11:44
so what we are going to do is we're going to simplify it and we're going to play as we are just learning
11:49
and we're getting started with the songs so we are just going to do down strokes all right so what you
11:55
can do is na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la only
12:08
to be with you now the a major comes in only to be with you
12:18
i have clad highest mountains all right i'm not going to sing all the lyrics
12:26
because then i will get a copyright strike but i'm going to do e and then the a all right
12:34
When the part comes, But I still... Then you say from A
12:42
But I still... To the B. Haven't found. Back to wait. Looking for But I still haven found what I looking for
13:02
Alright, back to A. Now I'm back to E. You can continue and play this whole song
13:12
Using just A, sorry, E major, A major and your B major
13:17
All right. Easy song, try with all the downstrokes on all. all the beats and if you want a sheet with all the details of how to play the song
13:26
head over to the blog, I have a PDF, print it out, keep it with you, and practice it hard
13:31
Other major songs that you can do after learning E major and your A major are a lot of songs by Sir A
13:39
If you are an India viewer or if you are outside India, but if you follow Bollywood, I'm pretty sure
13:44
you know the songs by Sir A.R. Reman. So there are a lot of songs by Sir A.R. E.R. E
13:50
in E major and A major, like songs like Rosa and a lot
13:55
You can just Google them and you will find a lot of songs. I will put in the sheets for a few songs by Sareya Reman in the blog as well
14:04
Head over to the blog and look for them. So now you have covered all the major chord shapes
14:10
Let's go once again, C major, your D major, your E major, your F we haven't covered yet
14:18
All right, we will do that in future. but this is not an open all right and after that a g major so open open chord shapes are
14:26
majorly all in the first three frids right and we have covered them practice them hard
14:35
try to learn switching between all of them if anyone says you see you should be
14:41
able to do that quickly e then if anyone says a if anyone says d right
14:49
so back to C and if anyone says G go for that
14:55
so you should be able to switch from any major chord to any other
14:59
major chord so the best way to learn doing that explore songs learn as
15:05
many songs whatever songs you like try and figure them out try and search
15:09
for them I'm pretty sure you will find a lot of songs that you like
15:13
in the major keys and the happy songs that you like they are most probably in the major keys
15:19
search for the happy songs that you can think of. Other than that, we have covered a lot of songs
15:27
Happy Birthday, still haven't found, and go over the blog. I will write all the songs that we have covered there
15:35
All right. There's knocking on heaven doors, but that includes your A minor as well
15:40
We have covered that. So you can play that. Keep on practicing songs
15:44
Keep on playing songs. You will get a better hold of how to play the guitar. Keep on moving forward
15:49
You have come a long way now. You are halfway through the beginner course, I guess
15:54
Not halfway through yet, but nearly 40% done there. And keep going
16:00
You are doing good. You have been come along this far. And you will make it till the very end for sure
16:06
So keep on practicing. Have a practice schedule. Do practice for 10 minutes, 15 minutes, whatever time you can have
16:13
If you can practice for an hour or two, that is brilliant. do that keep on doing that every day and you will get better at playing guitar all right so if you like
