Today we're making [music] creamy white
0:02
gravy. Poured over some biscuits. Don't
0:04
get no better than that. Y'all want to
0:06
join me?
0:09
You know, I get this question a lot. How
0:11
do you make gravy? Is there a recipe for
0:14
gravy? Well, for all my life, all it was
0:16
was here's a recipe. Grease, flour,
0:20
milk. That was it. Now, let's talk about
0:22
what makes the best gravy. I really
0:24
think that starts with bacon grease.
0:26
Now, a lot of people are going to say,
0:27
"Oh, I love sausage [music] gravy."
0:29
Bacon gravy to me is the best. I've got
0:31
about four tablespoons in there
0:33
probably. And we're going to take a
0:35
little flour. Now, if you've got a
0:37
little sifter, it even makes it easier.
0:40
And I don't like to start this gravy as
0:42
soon as you get that bacon out. Let that
0:43
grease cool just a minute cuz we don't
0:45
want to burn any of this flour. One
0:47
tablespoon.
0:49
Two tablespoons. Give it a little shake.
0:53
One of the best tools you can have to
0:55
make gravy is a spatula that's got these
0:57
in it [music] or the holes because we
1:00
need to stir all that around. This way
1:02
it helps get them lumps out. Let that
1:04
just sit there and simmer just a minute.
1:06
You can see all of it's beginning to
1:08
brown up just a little. One thing I did
1:10
today and I like to do on ranches if I
1:12
get the chance is I warm my milk. That
1:16
way you're not pouring it in there and
1:17
shocking that flour to where it's going
1:18
to say I'm going to clump up if I get
1:20
the chance. I'd say about 2 minutes of
1:22
cooking this on lowmedium heat and we'll
1:25
be ready to add the milk.
1:29
Now, if you want to add more richness to
1:31
this, drop your pad of butter in there
1:33
at this time and mix it all together.
1:35
So, we're just going to pour about a cup
1:37
in there to start with. Do not walk off
1:39
and leave it. Keep stirring.
1:42
And when this begins to bubble and
1:44
thicken just a little, we'll reduce that
1:46
heat down to low. And if you ever need
1:49
to thin gravy, add you a little milk to
1:51
it. Run out of milk, use water.
1:56
We're going to give it a little shake of
1:57
pepper cuz you got to have pepper in
2:00
white gravy. And I need you to leave me
2:02
a comment down there below.
2:04
What is the best gravy? White gravy or
2:06
brown gravy? I grew up with white.
2:09
Little shake of salt.
2:15
Now we're going to reap the benefits.
2:17
[clears throat] Ain't nothing better way
2:19
to start the day, the morning or the
2:20
evening, than some good gravy.
