Elephant and Monkey - Learning to Respect Differences | Moral Story

Jun 9, 2023
Once upon a time, in a dense jungle, there lived an elephant and a monkey. They were best friends and often spent time together. One day, the monkey was climbing a tree when he accidentally fell and broke his leg. The elephant came to his rescue and helped him by carrying him on his back to his own place. The monkey stayed with the elephant while his leg healed. During this time, the monkey would often climb on the elephant's back and ride around the jungle. The elephant enjoyed having the monkey around and was happy to help him. One day, while they were walking together, they saw a bunch of ripe bananas hanging from a tree. The monkey wanted to eat them but couldn't reach the bananas as they were too high up. The elephant suggested that he could help by lifting the monkey up so that he could reach the bananas. The monkey happily agreed and climbed onto the elephant's trunk. The elephant lifted him up and the monkey ate the bananas. However, the monkey became greedy and kept asking the elephant to lift him up for more bananas. The elephant, being a good friend, obliged every time. But the monkey's greed kept increasing and he started demanding more bananas than he could eat. The elephant tried to reason with him, but the monkey refused to listen. One day, when the elephant refused to lift him up for more bananas, the monkey became angry and started throwing sticks and stones at him. The elephant realized that his friend was no longer the same and had become selfish and greedy. He decided to end their friendship and walked away. The monkey realized his mistake and apologized to the elephant, but it was too late. The moral of the story is that greed can destroy even the strongest of friendships. https://diversionedge.com/category/story/
