The Louise Wise Adoption Agency was involved in a controversial and secretive psychological experiment during the 1960s and 1970s that separated twins and triplets at birth and placed them with different adoptive families, without informing the families that their children were part of an experiment. This unethical study was conducted with the involvement of psychologist Dr. Peter Neubauer, who sought to study the nature versus nurture debate by observing how separated identical siblings developed in different environments.
