Hey everyone, welcome back to my kitchen where everything is scratch made and home preserved
0:14
Well, almost everything I'm Jenny and this is the Shelf Stable Recipe Collaboration
0:22
And this is put on by Mary Ellen over at Prepper Potpourri. It includes several
0:26
channels. I will put the channel links description box below as well as the playlist for you and I'm gonna make a
0:33
super quick shelf stable version of spaghetti carbonara it's quick it's easy and we have almost all the ingredients stocked in our house almost
0:45
all of the time so let's so pull the chair up to my counter and let's get
0:49
started for the spaghetti carbonara I'm gonna be using freeze-dried eggs you can
0:55
use any brand of freeze-dried eggs you like if you stock them in your pantry. I have Thrive
1:01
products so I going to use that I have shelf cheese If you got the little packets that you keep from the pizza restaurants stocked in your drawer You could use those and then shelf bacon bits
1:14
And then I've got pasta just shelf-stable pasta these along with some salt and pepper that is it
1:21
You can also throw in some freeze-dried chives or green onions if you like I
1:26
Have put a pot of water on my stove to boil so while I'm waiting for that to boil
1:30
We can whisk up the eggs. My directions say two tablespoons of egg and three
1:37
tablespoons of water. You're going to want to use filtered or bottled water
1:43
I'm going to put my egg in. I don't know how much I'm going to be using here. Let's
1:52
try three eggs first I not making a ton of pasta Filtered water I going to go ahead and whisk that together And to this I am going to add some pepper I going to add a little bit of salt I going to add a little bit of
2:31
dried parsley. After I put the hot pasta in and start tossing it I'll add in the
2:41
cheese and bacon. You ever notice if you watch the pot of water boil it just never does
2:53
I guess the old saying holds true. You know it would be really good too if you rehydrated some
2:59
freeze-dried peas and put them in here too. It would be really delicious. Okay so I've got my pasta in the water. Okay I believe my noodles are done
3:11
I am going to get my eggs and spices and parsley I'm just gonna pull my noodles
3:19
out and put them right in not draining my pasta I I like some of my pasta water in there a little bit it helps the starchy water thicken and make it a better sauce
3:35
geez could I be any messier doing this Okay, and this is what it looks like now
3:53
I am just going to mix it with the egg. Now you could do this with obviously the eggs you collect from your chickens
4:13
But you know what, I ran out of eggs in this house and I had opened up my emergency stash
