Okay, good morning everybody from beautiful Islamabad. It's currently 3 a.m. here in the city
0:04
and I'm just about to begin a 12-hour road trip towards the north of Pakistan
0:09
I'm heading towards Hunza Valley, which is one of my favourite spots in the whole country
0:13
I can't wait, so let's jump in the car and head on this pretty long overnight journey
0:17
towards this beautiful part of this beautiful country. Thank you, bro. Thank you
0:30
Okay so we just stopped at a service station to get some gas and this is the typical scenes
0:41
here in Pakistan on the road to Hunza. Truck full of cows
1:00
Thank you
1:29
Okay good morning everybody it's currently 7am and I've just made it to a small town called Besham
1:35
Assalamu alaikum. Wa alaikum salam. And we're going to stop and eat some breakfast and drink some chai
1:42
I'm really tired. I'm looking about 80 years old with these under eye bags
1:46
But I'm really excited to get to the mountains. As you can see the landscape is just starting to develop
1:50
We have a beautiful river surrounded by beautiful foothills. The closer we go to the mountains the bigger the mountains we'll get
1:57
And I can't wait. Assalamu alaikum. Okay guys, we're about nine hours into the road trip
2:27
It's roughly about 12.30 now. And I've just stopped at a small town called Suma to grab some chai
2:33
Everyone is so kind here. It's so friendly, as always, here in Pakistan. Okay, so one thing you'll probably experience on this road towards Gilgit is a lot of delays
3:08
Right now they're fixing the dam and we've been stuck here for about an hour, but hopefully
3:12
it'll be cleared soon. This road is so beautiful, so the landscapes kind of make up for it
3:17
I'm hopefully going to get to Hunza, inshallah, very soon. I'm really, really tired
3:21
Salaam. Let aside. You want to go. Oh, we go? Yes. Shukriya
3:57
Okay guys we were stuck at the dam for 3 hours so we only just arriving in gilgit in about 30 minutes it currently about 6 30 or 7 but as you can see the sun is setting around these
4:18
beautiful peaks and behind me is nangar palbud and hopefully in a few days inshallah we'll head
4:22
to the base camp i'm so happy to be back so let's continue the road trip to gilgit and then it's a
4:28
further three hours to Karimabad. I can't wait to sleep. Inshallah. It happens soon
4:35
Okay, everybody, I've just arrived here in Hunza after a very, very long drive. I've
4:39
just arrived at my favourite hotel in the area, Darba. I'll give you a full tour tomorrow
4:44
but this is possibly the best welcome you can have into a hotel. Traditional dancing
4:48
and music. Take a look at this. Thank you
5:28
Good morning everybody from beautiful Karimabad here in Hunza Valley
5:55
I arrived pretty late last night it took about 18 hours and 19 hours to drive here usually it takes
6:01
about 15 but I had a few delays on the way they have a lot of roadworks building a dam in one of
6:07
the main parts of the road so that took about three hours just to get past there but I'm very
6:12
happy to wake up to such incredible views as you can see the huge peaks around me behind me here
6:18
is another huge peak and this one here is Rakiposhi I've never actually seen the peak of Rakiposhi
6:23
because although I've come to Hunza twice, this is my first time during spring
6:29
So usually the peaks are covered in huge clouds and snowfall, but I've also come at a very special time
6:37
Right now is peak cherry blossom season, so the entire valley is covered in a beautiful pink blossom
6:45
and it's pretty spectacular. I can't wait to spend the next few days exploring this beautiful area
6:51
It's actually one of my favourites in the whole of Pakistan. I've never really felt so much peace until I come here
6:57
So yeah, I'm very excited to be here. Okay, so first stop here on the road trip across Hunza is Attabad Lake
7:44
Back in 2010, there was a huge landslide which cut off the village
7:48
There was a river running through and as that landslide came down, it blocked it, creating this huge lake
7:53
actually flooding the village and cutting off 25,000 people from pretty much the world
7:58
So for five years up until 2015, they actually had to just use boats to cross the lake
8:04
That included cars, food, cattle, sheep, everything in between. So for five years, it was a pretty tough life
8:10
But now, as you can see, it's a very, very popular tourist destination. I actually never seen it in the spring and it great to see There are so many local tourists here taking boats across the beautiful lake Last time I was here it was in February 2020 so the lake was actually frozen And I actually went swimming inside which was amazing
8:28
But yeah, it's gorgeous to see it on a day like this. Actually pretty warm, tourists here
8:33
It's great to see places like this thriving. I love it a lot
9:16
so the second spot we're heading to today is Husseini Suspension Bridge which
9:30
is this incredible suspension bridge which crosses the entire valley across the river and you can see incredible views of Passu take a look at this
9:46
okay so i'm walking across now you can see the river just below me there are a lot of people
9:54
on this bridge all local tourists here in pakistan so it's making the bridge really wobbly
9:59
but the views are just incredible you can see the pasu cones behind me and the pasu valley
10:05
wow pakistan just blows me away every time i come back here and the views are amazing every time i've
10:12
come to Hunza before it's been snowing so I haven't got the chance to see Pasu so clear and the river so
10:19
amazing and clear and blue so yeah it's pretty beautiful let's try and see if we can get to the
10:24
other side these crazy people not even using them really
10:42
Salaam You have pakora? Yeah One pakora Okay So clear Okay so one year ago when I came here
10:56
For the second time I spotted this pakora restaurant And I'm going to get some just for memories
11:01
They were some of the best pakoras I've ever tasted And the women inside are so friendly and so nice
11:05
So let's get some pakoras and enjoy this incredible view Okay so here are the beautiful crunchy pakoras
11:11
here at Husseini Bridge it comes with this really spicy dip, it's delicious
11:17
hear that crunch it's just amazing I love it here so much
11:27
if you guys are coming to Husseini make sure to get the pakoras from
11:31
the little huts by the bridge they're amazing So just at Husseini Suspension Bridge
12:11
there were some stores that sells the gilgit hat i just pick one up um my other hat is still in my
12:18
baggage which they still haven't found so what do you think i think it would look great with my
12:23
black shower kameez i love it welcome everybody to beautiful pasu this is pasu valley just here Behind me is the incredible Pasu Glacier Just picked up this amazing hat I love it a lot The journey here is just spectacular
12:41
The mountains covered in snow with the clouds rolling over. It's nothing short of phenomenal
12:46
Some of the best landscapes I've ever seen in my entire life. So let's keep going to Pasu Cones
12:57
so okay so i finally made it back to beautiful pasu these behind me are the pasu cones
13:26
iconically named for their incredible structure here is just beautiful you can find so many tourists
13:33
here because it's so easily accessible and you can see the beautiful sweeping landscapes covered
13:39
in snow today is such a beautiful day so it makes it so easy to make incredible photos here
13:45
you can see how many tourists are here wow i love it here so so much
13:56
So up here in northern Pakistan yak meat is very very famous and it is delicious
14:09
So I've just come to yak grill here in Pasu and we're going to grab some yak burgers to
14:14
eat and enjoy with this incredible view. two yak burgers
14:23
okay so guys we have the yak burger here i have memories of this being
14:29
incredible so let's see how good it still is it's still amazing and with views like this it's the perfect stop here in pasuk
14:47
