Southern Cornbread
Ingredients:
1 cup yellow cornmeal
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup buttermilk
2 large eggs
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
Optional: 1/4 cup honey (for a sweeter cornbread)
Instructions:
Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Place a well-seasoned 10-inch cast iron skillet or a 9x9-inch baking dish in the oven to heat while you prepare the batter.
Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
