Slime Recipe
History
Slime, a gooey and stretchy substance, has captivated children and adults alike for decades. While the exact origins of slime are unclear, it gained widespread popularity as a toy in the late 20th century. Originally made from guar gum, a natural thickening agent, modern slime recipes often use ingredients like glue, borax, or contact lens solution to achieve its characteristic texture. Slime has become a beloved sensory play material, offering endless opportunities for creativity and exploration.
#### Ingredients
- 1/2 cup white school glue
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup liquid starch or laundry detergent
- Food coloring (optional)
- Glitter (optional)
#### Instructions
1. **Mix Glue and Water**: In a bowl, combine the white school glue and water. Stir until the mixture is smooth and well combined. This will be the base of your slime.
2. **Add Color and Glitter (Optional)**: If desired, add a few drops of food coloring to the glue mixture to create colored slime. You can also add glitter for a sparkly effect. Stir until the color and glitter are evenly distributed.
3. **Incorporate Liquid Starch or Laundry Detergent**: Gradually add the liquid starch or laundry detergent to the glue mixture, stirring continuously. As you add the liquid starch or detergent, you'll notice the slime beginning to form and pull away from the sides of the bowl.
