1 cup dried garbanzo beans (chickpeas)
4 cups water (for soaking and cooking)
1 tsp salt
1 bay leaf (optional, for added flavor)
1 tbsp olive oil (optional, for serving)
Freshly ground black pepper (optional)
Instructions:
1. Soaking the Beans:
Start by rinsing the dried garbanzo beans under cold water to remove any dirt or debris.
Place the beans in a large bowl and cover them with 3-4 cups of water. Allow them to soak for at least 8 hours or overnight. This softens the beans and reduces cooking time.
After soaking, drain and rinse the beans before cooking.
