Sausage Stuffing
Ingredients:
1 pound Italian sausage (mild or hot), casings removed
1 medium onion, finely chopped
2-3 celery stalks, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
8 cups day-old bread cubes (about 1 loaf of bread), cut into 1/2-inch cubes
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
1 tablespoon fresh sage, chopped (or 1 teaspoon dried sage)
1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves (or 1 teaspoon dried thyme)
1 teaspoon salt, or to taste
1/2 teaspoon black pepper, or to taste
2-3 cups chicken or vegetable broth, as needed
Instructions:
Cook Sausage: In a large skillet or frying pan, cook the Italian sausage over medium heat, breaking it up into smaller pieces with a spatula, until browned and cooked through, about 8-10 minutes. Remove the sausage from the skillet and drain on paper towels.
