Roti Recipe
Roti, a traditional Indian flatbread, is a staple in many households and is cherished for its simplicity and versatility. Made from whole wheat flour, water, and a pinch of salt, roti pairs beautifully with a variety of dishes, from curries to stir-fries. This recipe is ideal for those who prefer minimal ingredients while still enjoying a delicious and nutritious meal.
Ingredients:
2 cups whole wheat flour (atta)
1/2 teaspoon salt (optional)
3/4 cup warm water (adjust as needed)
1 tablespoon oil or ghee (optional, for soft roti)
Instructions:
1. Preparation:
Mixing the Dough:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour and salt.
Gradually add warm water, a little at a time, while mixing the flour with your fingers.
Knead the dough until it is soft, smooth, and pliable. This should take about 5-7 minutes. If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour; if too dry, add more water.
Optional: Add a tablespoon of oil or ghee while kneading to make the roti softer.
Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for at least 15-20 minutes.
2. Rolling the Roti:
Divide and Roll:
Divide the dough into equal-sized balls (about the size of a golf ball).
