Queso Blanco Recipe
Introduction:
Queso Blanco is a mild, creamy cheese commonly found in Latin American cuisine. Unlike other cheeses, it doesn't melt, making it ideal for crumbling over dishes or frying. This cheese is made with minimal ingredients, typically just milk, an acid (vinegar or lemon juice), and salt. Its simplicity is part of its charm, as it can be made at home with basic kitchen equipment. Perfect for sprinkling over tacos, salads, or adding to soups, Queso Blanco brings a fresh, versatile flavor to many dishes.
Ingredients:
1 gallon whole milk
1/4 cup white vinegar (or lemon juice)
1 teaspoon salt
Instructions:
Heat the Milk:
Pour the milk into a large pot and heat it over medium heat. Stir occasionally to prevent scorching. Once the milk reaches 185°F (85°C), just below boiling, turn off the heat.
Add the Acid:
Slowly pour in the vinegar (or lemon juice) while gently stirring the milk. You'll notice the milk beginning to curdle as the curds separate from the whey.
Let it Rest:
