Perfect Jasmine Rice
Ingredients:
1 cup jasmine rice
1 1/2 cups water
1/2 teaspoon salt (optional)
1 teaspoon butter or oil (optional)
Instructions:
Rinse the Rice: Place the jasmine rice in a fine-mesh strainer and rinse under cold running water until the water runs clear. This helps to remove excess starch and prevents the rice from becoming too sticky.
Combine Ingredients: In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed rice, water, salt, and butter or oil if using.
Bring to a Boil: Place the saucepan over medium-high heat and bring the mixture to a boil. Stir the rice once to prevent sticking.
Simmer: Once the water reaches a boil, reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan with a tight-fitting lid, and simmer for 15 minutes. Avoid lifting the lid during this time, as it disrupts the steaming process.
Rest: After 15 minutes, remove the saucepan from the heat and let it sit, covered, for an additional 10 minutes. This allows the rice to finish steaming and ensures a fluffy texture.
