Patty Melt Recipe
Patty Melt Ingredients: 1 pound ground beef (80% lean) Salt and pepper, to taste 1 tablespoon vegetable oil 1 large onion, thinly sliced 4 slices of rye bread Butter, softened 4 slices of Swiss cheese (or your favorite melting cheese) Dijon mustard (optional) Pickles, for serving (optional) Instructions: Prepare the Onions: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the thinly sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until they are soft and caramelized, about 15-20 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Remove from the skillet and set aside. Form the Patties: While the onions are cooking, divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions. Shape each portion into a patty slightly larger than the size of your rye bread slices. Season both sides of each patty generously with salt and pepper.
