Ingredients:
🥔 4 large russet potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
🧈 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
🥛 1/2 cup milk or heavy cream
🧂 Salt, to taste
🌿 Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
🌱 Chopped fresh parsley, for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
1️⃣ Place the peeled and chopped potatoes in a large pot, and cover them with cold water. Add a generous pinch of salt to the water.
2️⃣ Bring the water to a boil over high heat, then reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer the potatoes for 15-20 minutes, or until they are fork-tender.
3️⃣ Drain the cooked potatoes thoroughly, then return them to the pot.
4️⃣ Add the softened butter to the pot with the potatoes, and mash them together using a potato masher until the butter is evenly distributed and the potatoes are mostly mashed.
