Kentucky Mule Recipe
Introduction
The Kentucky Mule is a Southern twist on the classic Moscow Mule, substituting the traditional vodka with bourbon. This cocktail is a delightful blend of the smooth, smoky flavors of bourbon, the sharp tang of ginger beer, and the zesty brightness of fresh lime juice. Perfect for sipping on a warm evening or serving at a gathering, this cocktail is simple yet sophisticated. With minimal ingredients, it’s easy to prepare and incredibly refreshing.
Ingredients
2 oz bourbon (your choice)
4-6 oz ginger beer (preferably strong and spicy)
1/2 oz fresh lime juice (about half a lime)
Ice (crushed or cubed)
Lime wedge and mint sprig for garnish (optional)
Instructions
Chill the Mug: Start by chilling a copper mug in the freezer for about 10 minutes. This not only keeps your drink cold but also adds to the authentic experience.
Add Ice: Fill the chilled copper mug with ice. Crushed ice is traditional, but cubed ice works just as well.
Pour Bourbon: Measure out 2 ounces of your favorite bourbon and pour it over the ice. The quality of the bourbon plays a big role in the final taste, so choose one you enjoy sipping neat.
Add Lime Juice: Squeeze half a lime to extract about 1/2 ounce of fresh lime juice. Pour it into the mug. Fresh lime juice is key for that bright, tangy flavor.
