Golo Recipe
Introduction: Golo is a traditional West African dish known for its rich flavor and minimal ingredients. It’s a type of savory dumpling often enjoyed as a side dish or snack. Golo is made from simple ingredients like cassava flour, water, and seasoning, yet it offers a delightful taste and texture. Here’s a detailed recipe for making golo, perfect for those who prefer straightforward cooking with satisfying results.
Ingredients:
2 cups cassava flour
1 cup water (plus extra if needed)
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/2 teaspoon onion powder (optional)
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
Preparation:
Mixing: In a large bowl, combine the cassava flour, salt, black pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder. Gradually add water, mixing continuously until a smooth, thick dough forms. The dough should be pliable but not too sticky. If it’s too dry, add a bit more water; if too wet, add a little more cassava flour.
Shaping: Divide the dough into small portions and roll them into balls about 1 inch in diameter. Flatten each ball slightly to form a small patty shape.
Cooking: Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Place the patties onto the hot surface. Cook each side for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown. The golo should have a slightly crisp exterior and a soft, cooked interior.
