Fried Sweet Plantains
Fried Sweet Plantains Ingredients: 2 ripe plantains (yellow with black spots), peeled Vegetable oil, for frying Salt, to taste (optional) Instructions: Prepare the Plantains: Peel the plantains and cut them into diagonal slices, about 1/2 inch thick. Heat Oil: In a large skillet or frying pan, heat enough vegetable oil over medium-high heat to cover the bottom of the pan and allow for frying the plantains. Fry the Plantains: Once the oil is hot (around 350°F / 175°C), carefully add the plantain slices to the skillet in a single layer. Fry for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and caramelized. Use tongs to flip them halfway through cooking. Cooking Tip: Be cautious when adding the plantains to the hot oil to avoid splattering. Adjust the heat as needed to maintain a steady frying temperature. Drain and Season: Remove the fried plantains from the skillet and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. Sprinkle with salt if desired while they are still hot.
