Cookie Icing Recipe
Introduction:
Cookie icing is the perfect way to add a touch of sweetness and a pop of color to your homemade cookies. This easy-to-make icing dries hard, making it ideal for decorating and stacking your cookies without the worry of smudging. Whether you’re preparing for a holiday, a special occasion, or just adding a bit of flair to your everyday treats, this versatile icing recipe will help you create beautifully decorated cookies every time.
Ingredients:
2 cups powdered sugar
2-4 tablespoons milk or water
1 tablespoon light corn syrup
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
Food coloring (optional)
Instructions:
Combine Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons of milk or water, light corn syrup, and vanilla extract until smooth. The corn syrup gives the icing a glossy finish and helps it harden.
Adjust Consistency: Add more milk or water, a teaspoon at a time, to reach your desired consistency. For outlining cookies, you’ll want a thicker icing. For flooding (filling in the outlined areas), a slightly thinner icing is best.
Color the Icing: Divide the icing into separate bowls if you want to use multiple colors. Add a few drops of food coloring to each bowl and mix until the color is evenly distributed.
