Introduction:
Brioche, a rich and buttery French bread, is a delightful treat for breakfast or brunch. Its soft, tender crumb and golden crust make it a versatile base for sweet and savory dishes alike. This classic brioche recipe yields a loaf with a perfect balance of fluffiness and flavor, ideal for making French toast, sandwiches, or enjoying plain with a pat of butter. Although brioche requires some patience with its rising times, the results are well worth the effort.
Ingredients:
1/4 cup warm milk (110°F/45°C)
1 tablespoon active dry yeast
1/4 cup granulated sugar
5 large eggs, room temperature
4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature, cut into cubes
1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions:
In a small bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
In a large mixing bowl, beat the eggs and remaining sugar together. Add the yeast mixture and mix well.
Gradually add flour and salt, mixing until a dough forms. Knead for about 5 minutes using a dough hook attachment or by hand until smooth.
