Bison Burger Recipe
Introduction
Bison burgers are a delicious and lean alternative to traditional beef burgers, offering a rich, slightly sweet flavor and a tender texture. Because bison meat is lower in fat than beef, it’s important to handle it carefully to avoid dryness. This simple recipe ensures juicy, flavorful burgers with minimal ingredients, making it perfect for a quick and satisfying meal.
Ingredients
1 lb ground bison
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp onion powder
1 tbsp olive oil (optional, for grilling)
Preparation
Combine Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, gently combine the ground bison with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Avoid overmixing, as this can make the burgers tough.
Form Patties: Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape them into patties, each about 3/4-inch thick. Make a small indentation in the center of each patty with your thumb to prevent bulging during cooking.
Cooking
Preheat Grill or Pan: If using a grill, preheat it to medium-high heat. For stovetop cooking, heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Optionally, brush the grill grates or skillet with olive oil to prevent sticking.
Cook the Burgers:
Medium-Rare: Cook each patty for 3-4 minutes per side, until the internal temperature reaches 130-135°F (54-57°C).
