A public playtest is available on Steam today, August 18, through August 25, 2026.In King in the Mountain, you send teams of dwarves underground in search of gold, gems, and ancient artifacts. Choose where they should dig and watch them carve their way through the mountain, but every expedition is limited by one thing: the torch. Once the lights go out, it’s not safe and your dwarves have to go back to the base to regroup. The deeper you go, the greater the potential rewards, but every new tunnel costs precious time. Push your luck for one more treasure or turn back while there is still enough light to make it home.Everything your dwarves recover can be invested back into the kingdom. Hire more workers, improve their tools, extend the life of the torch, construct new rooms and workshops, and prepare for increasingly ambitious expeditions.
