Guns of Eschaton is reinventing both the first-person shooter and the soulslike genre alike, all for the genre's most masochistic fans! In this hands-on gamescom 2026 preview, we experienced two hours of gunpowder-heavy FPS action, set in an apocalyptic Weird West designed by the late great Viktor Antonov (known for being the art director on Dishonored, Half-Life 2, Wolfenstein: The New Order, and now Guns of Eschaton). Despite an arduous demo and a never-ending array of horrors, Guns of Eschaton offers an entrancing yet brutal world that makes you want to "git gud".
