The most important tip to keep with you when studying for your IELTS exam is remembering that grammar is king. You can have the best argument, ideas, and structure, but without proper grammar, your essay will not be understood. To determine that your grammar needs some improvement, get feedback from someone. When trying to improve your grammar skills, you can either use a method involving hearing or a method involving seeing. For those of you who do better hearing, listen to IELTS essays using headphones and write these essays down as you listen to them. For those of you who do better with seeing, look up sample essays, read them, and cover one sentence at a time while you try to rewrite the sentence the exact way you see it written. If you use these tips daily and practice, you will see great improvement in your grammar skills before taking the IELTS exam.
