Carbonara Recipe
Carbonara is a classic Italian pasta dish known for its creamy sauce made with eggs, cheese, pancetta or bacon, and black pepper. Here's how to make authentic carbonara at home:
Ingredients:
- 12 ounces (340g) spaghetti or bucatini pasta
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup (about 100g) grated Pecorino Romano cheese (or Parmesan), plus extra for serving
- 4 ounces (115g) pancetta or guanciale, diced (or bacon as a substitute)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced (optional)
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- Chopped fresh parsley, for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti or bucatini pasta and cook according to the package instructions until al dente.
2. While the pasta is cooking, in a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs and grated Pecorino Romano cheese until well combined. Season with a pinch of black pepper. Set aside.
