today we're going to be talking about
0:02
divorce after a long marriage and
0:04
reinventing yourself because let's just
0:07
face it nobody plans to get married for
0:09
20 25 30 years and then end their
0:12
marriage And so I'm doubly excited
0:14
because my guest today Tracy is a friend
0:17
a colleague a therapist as well as a
0:20
divorce and has been remarried since But
0:23
it's just such a a hard chapter for most
0:25
people's lives And so we thought we
0:27
would talk a little bit about it and
0:29
help any of you who might be going
0:30
through something like divorce whether
0:33
it's after a short marriage or a long
0:35
marriage Hopefully we can help make that
0:37
journey a little bit more smooth So uh
0:39
without further ado Tracy please tell us
0:41
a little bit about yourself Thanks for
0:43
being here Yeah it's so good to be here
0:44
I have been at Infinite for a little
0:48
over two years I love it I have three
0:51
adult kids I've gained a new son-in-law
0:54
in the last year So yeah I'm just
0:57
recering reinventing and Yeah And and
1:00
you're a therapist Yeah Yeah That's what
1:01
we do at Infinite And so you're a trauma
1:03
therapist an EMDR therapist as well And
1:06
tell us a little bit about your you know
1:08
your personal experience what happened
1:11
and why you ended up divorcing and tell
1:13
us how long you were married Yeah I met
1:18
ex-husband when I was 22 in college um
1:21
married two years later and you never
1:24
think you're going to get divorced
1:27
Nobody plans for that on the altar and
1:28
says you know we're going to end this in
1:33
I found myself when my marriage was
1:35
getting rocky I pretty much gave
1:38
everything to my marriage I was a my
1:41
identity was I'm a wife and I'm a mom
1:44
and I loved it up until I didn't just it
1:50
was a rocky journey figuring it out
1:54
Right And it didn't happen overnight It
1:57
didn't happen in a year right It took
1:59
several years You mean once you guys
2:01
finally decided to part ways I think
2:04
just things had to be I've heard a
2:06
saying that once women get the courage
2:10
to leave it's been almost maybe three to
2:12
five years and cuz I you know I didn't
2:15
want that right I didn't I didn't want
2:18
to split my family apart I didn't want
2:20
to do that to my kids right and when I
2:22
got to a point that I just couldn't be
2:27
who I think I was really supposed to be
2:30
in that relationship I took the bit the
2:33
heart lit and started that new journey
2:36
which was also kind of long So how long
2:39
did your divorce the process of your
2:41
divorce take It took a couple years It's
2:44
so hard And you know this person that
2:46
was your best friend and your partner
2:48
and the the one you're you think you're
2:50
going to do life with having to unlearn
2:52
that it's just really harding
