When you're finger-strumming, you can either use your thumb or index finger
0:04
The thumb gives a darker sound as you're hitting the strings with your skin
0:07
whereas the index finger gives a lighter sound as you're hitting the strings with your nail

In this tutorial, we're going to use the index finger for downstrokes, and the thumb for upstrokes
0:18
We're going to use the D chord for this. I'll strum the chord every 4 counts

Once you're comfortable with it, you can practice doing it on the other way around

using your thumb for downstrokes, and index finger for upstrokes. Always remember to keep your hand relaxed, practice slowly
