My name's Joel Hicks and I'm a five-time winner of the World Great Wrestling Championships
0:16
and I'm also last year's winner so I'm here to defend my crown. Having a Guinness World Records title, what can I say about that? Well, when I first started
0:31
gravy wrestling around 10 years ago, it's the last thing that I ever thought I'd be honoured with
0:37
Quite something that will probably go with me for the day that I die, I'll always have that. And so that's really sweet. Whether it's a talent, I don't know. Let your viewers be the judge
0:46
Every year I come as a different personality, a different persona. This year I'm here as the
0:50
bearded lady. I've got a few tricks up my skirt but I can't really tell you them just now
0:53
you just have to wait and see what happens. It's great for me personally, you know, but more for
1:02
events like the World Great Wrestling Championships. The guys that run this and put this event on
1:07
they deserve all the credit. They're doing this, organising it all year round to put on this one
1:11
day. Me as a contestant, I come along and do my bit, but it's those guys that really deserve all
1:16
the credit. And the money we raise obviously goes to East Lancashire Hospice. And what started out
1:21
as basically just a few guys wrestling in gravy outside a supermarket, shoppers looking on what
1:26
on earth was going on. We're now raising around four or five thousand pounds every year by doing
1:30
this. And it's just fantastic for the community, for East Lancashire Hospice and everybody that's
1:35
involved in gravy wrestling. I didn't expect to take the title this year, I've got to say. Six
1:48
world titles, slightly overwhelming, slightly embarrassed I have to say as well. There are some
1:52
fantastic guys out there this year. I mean the quality of opposition, so to speak, it's better
1:57
and better every year. Really good turnout for the ladies. I mean it's nearly six o'clock now
2:01
we've just finished. Absolutely great turnout, the crowd are wonderful, the organisers put on
2:06
another superb job. What can we say? It's just been absolutely a blast of a day, we've raised a lot of money
