The Renaissance Had Some Truly Messed Up Things That Happened

The Renaissance may have been the era during which Europe exited the Dark Ages, but this doesn't mean that some truly dark and inhumane events didn't occur during this time. At its best, the Renaissance saw a renewed passion for science, the arts, and the written word. Names like Michelangelo, Erasmus, and Galileo are still household names to this day, because of their lasting contributions to the world of knowledge. Despite these intellectual highlights, the Renaissance was still a pretty rough time for the average person, who had to deal with war, disease, and poverty. What's more, most political environments of the day didn't lead to widespread happiness. The Renaissance had some truly messed up things that happened.
