hey what's up ladies and gentlemen this
0:02
is David Benjamin from WellStar reviews
0:04
and healthy wild 3 today I'm going to be
0:05
reviewing the IQ a now this is the
0:08
health Pro Series model it's sort of a
0:12
um medical grade air purifier filter
0:16
that it it's on Wheels as you can see
0:19
and it has several different filters in
0:21
it so I'm going to share with you my
0:22
experience with the IQ air filter what I
0:25
like and don't like about it and I'm
0:26
going to share with you my experience of
0:27
the air doctor filter what I like and
0:29
don't like about that I've lived in
0:31
environments where the IQ air was
0:34
present and I've lived in environments
0:35
where the air doctor was present so I've
0:37
seen and experienced both filters and I
0:40
also looked up the specs so I'm going to
0:42
share the specs with you so you can get
0:43
an understanding of sort of the
0:45
technical pros and cons of each model of
0:48
each unit so you can make the best
0:49
purchasing decision for the health of
0:51
you and your family so with that being
0:52
said first things first the IQ air is
0:55
more of a medical grade air filter
0:58
whereas the air doctor is more of a
1:00
consumer uh air filter and the reason
1:02
for that is because the IQ air has a
1:05
little bit more testing and validation
1:08
in terms of it's like HEPA a filtration
1:11
so for example the IQ air has what's
1:14
called a hyper HEPA filter whereas the
1:16
air doctor has what's called an ultra
1:19
HEPA filter now they are really claiming
1:22
to do the same thing in fact Air Doctor
1:24
claims that it filters a slightly higher
1:27
percentage they're both like 99
1:29
something %
1:30
99.9 from Air Doctor 99.5 from iqair but
1:35
iqair with that testing actually has or
1:38
with that claim actually has testing
1:40
behind it whereas air doctor doesn't
1:41
have independent claims uh so you're
1:43
just kind of taking their word for it
1:45
now in terms of the square footage that
1:47
each filters the IQ air filters
1:50
11225 Square ft and the air doctor
1:53
filters 1,000 ft so it's very similar
1:56
very close in that regard uh the you
1:59
know HEPA filter like I said is
2:01
basically the same uh each both the air
2:04
doctor and the IQ air each have
2:06
essentially a three- layer filter so
2:08
it's the prefilter the activated carbon
2:12
filter and then at the end of the cycle
2:15
it's the HEPA filter so each of them go
2:17
through this pre-filter carbon filter
2:19
HEPA filter three-stage filtration
2:22
process so it's very similar in that way
2:25
uh you're just looking at a slight very
2:28
very very small difference in terms of f
2:29
efficacy that IQ air has proven and I
2:32
think that's because these are more used
2:33
in a medical grade setting they kind of
2:34
look like medical grade uh devices
2:37
they're they're fairly big and uh the
2:40
air doctor is smaller and more sleek and
2:41
more of a consumer grade home model
2:43
whereas this is you know um just a
2:45
bigger model uh so moving on so uh now
2:49
comparing the price of the uh annual
2:51
filter replacement cost with the IQ air
2:54
you're looking at $396 a year and with
2:56
the air doctor you're looking at 180
2:58
bucks a year so even though you're
3:01
getting 100 ft 125 ft less with the air
3:05
doctor filtration the yearly filtration
3:09
upkeep cost is significantly Less in
3:12
fact less than half of the IQ air to
3:15
maintain $396 a year with the IQ air and
3:19
180 bucks a year for air doctor so a
3:21
pretty big difference there uh now we're
3:24
looking at the price the price of the IQ
3:25
air this is about 1100 1200 bucks
3:28
whereas the air doct is 629 so in terms
3:32
of like a small difference in variance
3:35
with uh you know square footage
3:37
filtering 100t difference 1,00 to 1100
3:41
ft and then maybe a small difference in
3:43
terms of efficacy of uh you know the
3:46
HEPA filter because Air Doctor claims to
3:48
have a little bit different HEPA filter
3:49
technology uh you're literally looking
3:51
at Double the price of air IQ UPF front
3:54
and then more than double the price on a
3:56
yearly basis to replace the filters I'm
3:58
going to share more with you on the
3:58
filters with that in a second because
4:01
that's also there's something about IQ I
4:04
don't really like as much and I'll pop
4:05
it open and show it to you but I want to
4:06
give you the specs first so you can see
4:08
a lay of the land so to speak so um I
4:11
will say the one thing that IQ air
4:13
definitely has over Air Doctor by a long
4:15
shot is that this device has a 10-year
4:18
warranty so they are really built to
4:20
last it's Swiss engineered and I'm a
4:23
huge fan of Swiss and German engineering
4:25
in fact I think some of the best
4:26
products in the world come from
4:27
Switzerland and Germany uh my favorite
4:30
rebounder trampoline the bellicon I I
4:32
did a review on them I'll put that below
4:34
if you're into health and fitness and
4:35
rebounding it's actually a Swiss German
4:38
company and swiss German engineered it's
4:40
engineered in the black forest in
4:41
Germany and it's a Swiss company so um
4:44
you know in terms of quality the 10-year
4:46
warranty is really nice whereas the air
4:48
doctor only gives you a one-year
4:49
warranty so a lot less Assurance in that
4:52
regard I will say however the air doctor
4:56
uh that you know I've uh you know lived
4:59
in the home with actually a few Air
5:00
Doctors not just one a few and I'll get
5:01
to that in a second the reason for that
5:03
there was no issues over two or 3 years
5:05
at all so uh I think the one-year
5:08
warranty uh you know although it gives
5:10
you less Assurance there's several Air
5:12
Doctors in one home running like
5:13
literally 24/7 I kid you not 24/7 I had
5:16
a roommate who was very particular about
5:18
mold and would run these things Non-Stop
5:21
and for two to three years not a single
5:23
issue so um you know I think that one-
5:26
year warranty is probably not much to
5:28
worry about uh but I will say this is
5:30
probably because of that 10-year
5:31
warranty uh probably engineered a tad
5:34
better but I don't think it's 10x better
5:36
not by any chice of the imagination I
5:37
think that's more of a sales pitch to be
5:39
honest with you uh moving on so the
5:41
warranty is better on here uh in terms
5:43
of the noise level this goes up to 69 DB
5:46
whereas the air doctor doesn't really
5:47
specify I will say when you turn this on
5:50
right now it's at a speed three you can
5:52
see the different lights here the uh
5:55
prefilter filter uh 2 and three so
5:57
filter 1 2 and three and it turn red or
6:00
green based on if it needs replacement
6:02
so that's nice to notify you and then
6:03
you just push this up 3 4 5 6 so this is
6:09
six this is the highest setting um it
6:11
does get pretty loud 69 DB is it's
6:15
fairly loud it's not crazy but you know
6:18
you have to raise your voice a little
6:19
bit if you're right next to it but you
6:20
can kind of put it in the corner too so
6:22
it's not a huge deal uh but uh you know
6:26
it's a little loud um moving on so uh
6:29
term now talking about ozone and ions
6:32
this is really interesting I have all
6:33
the specs here so bear with me I didn't
6:35
I don't want to miss anything so the IQ
6:38
Air does not emit ozone or ions and some
6:41
people see this as a positive I actually
6:44
don't personally I love ozone and ions
6:48
and here's why ozone is naturally
6:51
naturally emitted in our atmosphere and
6:53
ozone oxidizes and kills things like
6:56
mold bacteria viruses things like that
6:59
and a very small percentage it's not bad
7:02
people think that it's bad but uh if
7:05
you're a health and wellness geek like
7:07
myself myself and friends like myself we
7:10
literally what we do is Ozone bomb
7:13
specific rooms in the home meaning you
7:15
turn on ozone machine on at a high
7:16
concentration close the door trap it all
7:18
in there and you just do that to kill
7:20
everything so a small degree of ozone
7:23
I'm not worried about at all
7:25
additionally uh the ions that are
7:28
emitted from the air doctor are also a
7:30
good thing because What ions do is
7:31
they're electrostatic they're
7:32
electrically charged particles the IQ
7:35
air doesn't emit ions negative ions to
7:37
be specific the air doctor does now
7:39
negative ions that electrostatic energy
7:42
it actually uh tracks particles and it
7:45
binds to them and when that flows in the
7:47
air and gets back into the filter not
7:49
this filter but the air doctor what that
7:51
does is it makes it easier to trap those
7:53
particles because there's an electrical
7:54
charge now that can be trapped in the
7:57
machine and pulled in but if there's no
7:59
ions going out to trap those things to
8:01
pull them in you don't have as much of a
8:05
a charge electrically speaking to filter
8:08
those particles so I personally believe
8:12
based on Research I've done I've had an
8:13
ozone machine that journees ozone I have
8:15
uh negative ion generators I mean people
8:17
buy these things separately I have I've
8:18
bought air filters I've bought o
8:19
machines I've bought negative ions all
8:21
separately literally three different
8:22
things so to have all that in the air
8:24
doctor is actually really nice uh
8:26
because and also another thing that's
8:27
nice about negative ions is that any
8:28
electronic device cell phones Wi-Fi
8:31
Bluetooth 5G anything that emits
8:33
radiation and EMF electromagnetic
8:35
frequencies are emitting positive ions
8:38
positive ions are also electrically
8:39
charged and they create stress and uh
8:42
basically issues with your health they
8:44
actually cause free radical damage that
8:45
leads to oxidated stress they'll cause
8:47
headaches tension tightness and soreness
8:49
in your body all types of things that's
8:51
positive ions negative ions on the other
8:54
hand are the exact opposite of that so
8:57
for an air doctor to emit negative ions
8:58
in your home it's actually calming it
9:00
helps your breathing uh it traps those
9:03
particles and pulls them into your
9:04
filter better there's a lot of benefits
9:06
to Ozone and ions and it's interesting
9:08
because if you look deeper into this the
9:10
medical establishments are the ones
9:11
saying that ozone is bad yet but yet
9:13
ozone is emitted by our atmosphere it's
9:14
not bad at all it's a concentration
9:16
thing and the concentration you don't
9:18
have to worry about with the air doctor
9:19
because it's very small and you're you
9:22
know opening doors and windows and
9:23
things like that when you're in and out
9:25
and that ozone dissipates so you really
9:26
don't have to worry about it it's
9:27
killing stuff and it's dissipating and
9:29
ions they're both a benefit so I
9:31
personally really like that the air
9:33
doctor has the negative ions and the
9:35
ozone because you're getting a benefit
9:37
there that you're not even getting at
9:37
all with the IQ air but there's another
9:39
benefit of the IQ a that the air doctor
9:41
doesn't have so I'll get to that in a
9:42
second so um now continuing uh so here's
9:46
sort of the pros of the IQ a uh you know
9:49
it's a high quality construction 10e
9:50
warranty like I said it has a great
9:52
filtration uh the activated carbon is a
9:55
larger filter than the air doctor uh I
9:57
believe it's it says here 5 lb whereas
10:01
the air doctor is uh I believe it's like
10:04
a uh well it depends on the air doctor
10:06
you get but it's only6 to 3 lb I think
10:09
Apples to Apples it's a 3 lb filter so
10:12
it's a little bit less than half which
10:13
you know makes sense for the price um so
10:17
it's understandable so you're getting
10:18
less of a activated carbon filter now
10:21
what you should know is that the HEPA
10:23
filter roomless particles they both have
10:25
about the same HEPA filter might be
10:27
slightly better as IQ air for more than
10:29
double the price up front and more than
10:31
double the price for filters yearly but
10:34
the activated carbon filter in the IQ
10:36
air is better because it's a bigger
10:39
filter meaning the the bigger the
10:40
filtration media material excuse me the
10:44
more air moves through that the volume
10:45
of the air moves through that and then
10:47
you have better air coming out the other
10:49
end because it goes through a bigger
10:50
filter this is the same principle
10:52
applies to water the more filters you
10:54
have and the bigger those filters and
10:55
the more types of material that filter
10:58
specific things filter that out with
10:59
your water and I'll recommend something
11:01
at the end of this video in that regard
11:03
so you know uh with the IQ air really
11:06
what it comes down to is double the
11:09
price of the air doctor for 100 more
11:12
square feet of filtration you have a
11:14
better activated carbon filter which
11:16
does filter chemicals better however the
11:18
hea filter is about the same that's
11:19
going to filter particles so the
11:21
particle filtration is about the same
11:23
now with the air doctor those particles
11:25
are also good for mold and viruses and
11:27
things so if you're really concerned
11:28
about mold old in viruses and pathogens
11:31
and sort of natural Airborne things I
11:33
believe the air doctor is a better
11:35
choice now if you're more concerned
11:36
about chemicals and things like that the
11:38
IQ air is a better choice they're both
11:40
going to some to some degree filter both
11:42
of those things but the IQ air is going
11:44
to filter your chemicals a bit better
11:46
because it has a bigger activated carbon
11:48
filter now here's what I would recommend
11:50
personally if you want to be financially
11:52
wise and get the best bang for your
11:55
buck
11:57
they really if if you break it
12:00
down the activated carbon filter is the
12:02
benefit to this you get a bigger
12:04
activated carbon filter and a longer
12:07
warranty I don't think the warranty is a
12:09
huge deal to be completely honest based
12:11
on my experience because I haven't seen
12:13
really issues with either one of them
12:14
for years now with that being said
12:17
you're having more chemical fil
12:20
filtration with IQ air and you're having
12:22
more natural contaminant pathogen
12:24
filtration with the air doctor but the
12:26
the the big thing here is remember this
12:29
is double the price up front and double
12:30
the price for filters more than double
12:32
the price really for filters so what I
12:34
would recommend is getting two air
12:36
doctors for the price of one IQ air
12:40
because you're going to filter 2,000 squ
12:41
F feet which is probably going to be
12:43
like a good p a larger portion of your
12:44
home have one in the living room on a
12:46
different level whatever it may be and
12:48
then every once in a while just this is
12:50
what my mom did Growing Up This is an
12:52
old I think it's like a Polish thing or
12:53
something or I don't know because her
12:56
grandparents did this open all of the
12:58
windows and doors in your home even if
12:59
it's winter time air out your entire
13:01
house like once every few weeks or once
13:03
a month and just clean everything out
13:06
that will get all the offc casting all
13:07
the chemicals everything out of your
13:09
home according to the EPA outdoor air is
13:12
3 to 5x meaning 300 to 500% more clean
13:15
and clear and pure than indoor air the
13:18
problem is is that when it's really hot
13:20
or really cold we can't keep our windows
13:21
and doors open all the time because it
13:23
would be incredibly expensive which is
13:25
why we have air filters so I would
13:27
personally recommend if it comes down to
13:29
it IQ Air verse Air Doctor I would
13:32
recommend getting an air doctor because
13:33
it's cheaper and you get almost the same
13:35
filtration not quite but almost and if
13:38
you really want to you know have great
13:41
air filtration get two Air Doctors
13:43
because it is going to be better at
13:45
getting mold the off gasing of chemicals
13:48
you can just open your windows and your
13:50
doors every once in a while and get that
13:51
out of the home but the ongoing mold to
13:54
me that's more scary and dangerous than
13:56
the off gting of chemicals that I can
13:58
literally just open the window windows
13:59
and air things out here and there to get
14:01
off gasing plus I don't really bring a
14:03
lot of chemicals and junk and crap into
14:05
my home I'm kind of a minimalist uh wood
14:08
floors I like uh you know less carpet
14:10
less the less of these types of things
14:12
so there's going to be less off gasing
14:14
overall I mean there's still offing from
14:15
wood floors but regardless when it comes
14:18
down to IQ Air versus Air Doctor I would
14:20
get an air doctor uh and if you really
14:22
want great filtration get two air
14:24
doctors for different parts of your home
14:25
and kind of separate them and space them
14:26
out and air out your home like like I
14:29
said once every few weeks or once a
14:31
month now I want to show you one more
14:32
thing with the air do or excuse me with
14:33
the IQ air um in this video to kind of
14:36
illustrate something that I I didn't
14:38
really like about IQ air uh so this is
14:41
this is how you get the filter so you
14:42
pop this off right here okay you pop
14:45
this off and when you do this this comes
14:48
up like
14:49
this and bear with me as I take this off
14:53
now I don't know how well you can see
14:55
this but these are the filters right
14:56
here now the filters are in here
14:59
and I kid you not I am 100% serious when
15:03
I say this the housing unit for these
15:07
filters is
15:10
styrofoam which you know when I read it
15:12
was like Swiss made and all this kind of
15:14
stuff I'm thinking like okay um it's you
15:17
know got to be like a better housing
15:19
unit and you know seeing these filters
15:21
and this is the official IQ air filter
15:24
by the way just so you know uh you can
15:27
see that in there uh whoops it's kind of
15:30
hard to show on video but it's in there
15:32
uh and it's it's you could the IQ or
15:35
filter logo is right in there so I'm not
15:37
going to get too crazy with it but uh
15:39
having that made of uh that housing unit
15:42
made of a styrofoam uh was kind of a
15:44
downside to me another downside with the
15:47
IQ air that I noticed and I noticed this
15:49
with another filter that I had before
15:51
from a company called HealthWay which is
15:53
actually very very similar to this oddly
15:55
enough like I wonder if it's the same
15:57
manufacturer it's a square box like this
15:59
on Four Wheels I mean it's literally the
16:01
same thing and the filters are very
16:02
similar as well a little bit different
16:04
uh but one of the things I noticed with
16:05
the IQ air that I did not like is this
16:10
new filter in here I kid you not I can
16:13
smell um a chemical off gassing from the
16:17
filter itself which is pretty
16:19
disheartening and frustrating
16:23
because the point of these things is to
16:25
filter chemicals and if the
16:28
manufacturing process is putting
16:31
chemicals I'm going to do that later if
16:32
the manufacturing process is putting
16:34
chemicals or leaving a chemical residue
16:37
in the filters that's not a good thing
16:39
because when I turn this thing on I
16:41
actually smell some of that chemical
16:42
residue and I have a very good sniffer
16:45
very good snipper so uh you know the
16:48
fact that there's chemical offc casing
16:50
on the filter itself it's I don't like
16:52
that it's it's not cool I I never
16:55
experienced that with the air doctor um
16:57
so there's actually some I I can just
16:59
tell there's some chemicals going into
17:01
the manufacturing process with the air
17:03
doctor that are causing a little bit of
17:06
chemical off gessing from the filter
17:07
itself and eventually those kind of get
17:09
worked out but it takes a while and uh
17:13
it's another downside from IQ air so um
17:17
yeah with that being said I would
17:18
recommend Air Doctor long story short
17:20
over IQ air you're going to get more
17:22
bang for your buck and if you're worried
17:24
more about mold and natural pathogens
17:26
Air Doctor I believe is a more effective
17:28
filter because that ozone negative ion
17:29
feature with the HEPA and uh you know
17:33
carbon carbon is better within the IQ a
17:36
but the hea being about the same uh but
17:38
the you know the ion and the ozone being
17:40
better with the air doctor so anyways I
17:42
will link these up below maybe this one
17:44
is right for you uh maybe the air doctor
17:46
is right but I'll link up both the IQ
17:47
air and the air doctor right below this
17:49
video another thing I want to share with
17:51
