Why the USGA is syringe watering greens at Shinnecock Hills for US Open

The USGA surprised the golf world ahead of the 2026 US Open at Shinnecock Hills in New York by announcing they would syringe water the greens between morning and afternoon waves on Thursday's Round 1 and Friday's Round 2 of the competition.
