Okay. So, this is a full funding
0:02
scholarship. Basically, this is for
0:03
bachelors in Grenell College. It's what
0:05
is a tiny school but it's an old
0:08
university. Uh full funding. There are
0:11
no specific nationalities or subjects.
0:13
You have to apply for this uh
0:16
separately. We've talked about uh
0:18
need-based financial aid in United
0:21
States before uh but it's been quite a
0:23
while because uh the none of them have
0:25
been open for application for quite some
0:28
time right now. So basically a financial
0:30
aid means that that when you apply to a
0:33
university an American university a lot
0:35
of them have these you say to them I
0:38
need financial aid to be able to study
0:40
in this university and what the
0:41
university does is okay uh so give give
0:44
us information about your family's
0:47
financial situation so we can understand
0:49
how much financial assistance you need.
0:51
So what you do is you apply to the
0:53
university. You let them know you need
0:55
financial aid. They can cover your one
0:58
cover 100% of your uh demonstrated
1:01
needs. What demonstrated needs mean is
1:04
you create something called a CSS
1:06
profile. Basically CSS is a platform
1:09
that uh you can use to apply for a lot
1:11
of financial aid in United States. You
1:14
go you create a profile, you give them
1:16
your family's like tax information,
1:19
income information and etc. and
1:21
universities use that to basically
1:24
estimate how much financial assistance
1:26
can your family give you. So the
1:29
university says, "Okay, you you're going
1:30
to need about $60,000 to be able to
1:33
study in this university. And from the
1:35
information you g gave us from your CSS
1:38
profile, I think I estimate your family
1:41
can cover about 30,000 of this. So you
1:43
need 30,000 financial assistance every
1:46
year and if you get accepted to that
1:49
university, they cover that. That's what
1:51
demonstrated needs mean. uh some
1:53
universities are need blind some of them
1:56
are need aware basically that means if
1:58
the university is needlind when you
2:00
apply to the university when they are
2:03
trying to decide whether to let you in
2:05
or not they do not care about care
2:08
whether you need financial aid so if
2:10
they're going to let you in they're
2:12
going to let you in regardless of you
2:14
need financial aid or not okay so like
2:16
if you let them know that you need
2:18
financial aid that will not harm your
2:21
chances of getting again if the
2:23
university is need blind but if need uh
2:26
that might happen it's need that didn't
2:28
say yeah it's need yeah so if you apply
2:31
to this university uh let's see about
2:33
the university by the way it's a good
2:35
university an old university uh we have
2:37
some application results someone from
2:40
Turkey applied rejected Philippines
2:43
someone from Canada applied rejected uh
2:45
someone from India Asia accepted uh ex
2:49
extremely expensive like very high
2:51
tuition
2:52
and financial aid covers tuition as
2:55
well. Uh so this is this is where the
2:57
university is in Iowa. This is what it
2:59
looks like. Again, it's a it's an old
3:01
university. Yeah, that's pretty much it.
3:03
Ammon, do you want to add anything about
3:05
this university or this scholarship
3:07
basically? Um I think you covered
3:10
everything really. Yeah. So since it's
3:12
uh a needaware university uh your
3:16
financial need would impact your chances
3:18
of being admitted as you mentioned uh
3:21
that is something to always keep in
3:23
mind. So if there are other applicants
3:26
who can afford to study at the
3:28
university or applicants uh whose family
3:31
contribution is higher than yours they
3:33
would have the uh priority of getting
3:36
into the university. So there there are
3:38
definitely students who get in through
3:41
financial aid but uh it's the chances
3:44
are quite low compared to students who
3:47
can at least cover some of the tuition
3:50
uh or some of the expenses. So that that
3:52
is what needear means if the university
3:55
was need blind and there aren't many of
3:58
those for international students. I
4:00
think it's just five universities in
4:02
total. I don't know about the situation
4:04
right now if they are if if it is still
4:07
the case because the federal government
4:09
is pulling funding from those big
4:12
universities. So I'm not sure if they
4:15
are still uh need blind but when they
4:18
were or if they are your chances of
4:20
getting admitted are not impacted by
4:22
your financial aid. So the moment you
4:25
are accepted at the university you will
4:27
get a fully funded scholarship. So no
4:30
questions asked. Uh you will be treated
4:32
uh same as everyone. Your application
4:34
will be just judged on its merit, not
4:38
anything else. So they wouldn't care if
4:40
you need financial aid or
