Donald Trump has branded Iran's thwarted strike on a US air base in Qatar "very weak" as he called for an end to the fighting in the Middle East. Iranian state TV announced operation "Annunciation of Victory" after launching a series of missiles at the al Udeid air base in Qatar. Initial reports suggested missiles were also launched at the Ain al Asad air base in Iraq but the White House has denied this. Iran informed the US of the attack before it took place and no one was injured in the strikes. Confirming the missile strikes, Iran's government said it "will not leave any attack on its territorial integrity, sovereignty and national security unanswered under any circumstances".
