She is the kindest person you'll ever meet
0:03
Right. The kindest person. Thank you. Well, listen, we're out this morning. Do you want that ten? No, no. Yeah, yeah, yeah
0:08
Ten or one. So, big film out this Friday on Apple TV+
0:12
It's called Echo Valley. And the stars of the film, Sidney Sweeney and Julianne Moore join us
0:18
Joining me now, I'm Shudo. It's lovely to have you with us. Whirlwind. You've been in and out all morning
0:23
Super busy already. For those people who haven't been lucky enough to be sent a link to have seen it already
0:30
Tell us the premise of the film. Okay, okay. The film starts with my character, Kate
0:37
and you realize she's very depressed and she's experiencing a tremendous amount of grief
0:40
because she's lost her partner. She's struggling, trying to keep this farm operating by herself
0:46
She's under a lot of economic pressure and she has a daughter that she loves very much
0:49
who's struggling with addiction. And then there's a knock on the door. It's a very rainy night
0:54
and my daughter, played by Sydney Sweeney, shows up covered in blood and asking for help
0:59
So that's the beginning. What's it like having Julianne Moyes, your mum
1:06
I wish that it was under different circumstances because it would be a dream
1:11
but unfortunately my character does not treat her well. It's quite traumatic
1:15
Now, I mean, this question must have been asked to you a million times. We're mums, both of us
1:20
How far would you go for your own children, Julianne? That's a tough part, right
1:26
Like, where do you draw a boundary? Where do you offer them help Are you helping if you do everything for them This is a woman who makes a lot of really morally complicated choices but it all done out of love
1:40
All done out of love. That's what I keep saying to my 13-year-old as she slams the door in my face
1:47
In interviews I've read that Julianne's done before Sydney, she says that she's very un-Hollywood and she's not interested in celebrity
1:55
Is that true? Is that? Yeah. Oh, yeah. Does she not get her tour
1:59
I get that straight away from her just being that set this movie for two minutes. Does she not get demanding on set? No
2:05
No. No, no. She is the kindest person you'll ever meet. Right
2:10
The kindest person. Well, listen, we've got so much to talk about this morning. Do you want that tenner now
2:14
Yeah, yeah, yeah. We'll get the kettle on. We'll make a cup of tea
2:20
But also, with your tea, this is what we were talking about earlier. Are you familiar with Jaffa cakes
2:25
No. You don't want a Jaffa cake. I think I do not. I think it's a very British thing
2:29
But, you know, I'm here all the time. I don't think I've ever had a jackfruit. You've never come across a jackfruit cane
2:33
Oh, no. I bet we haven't got any in the building. There's not, like, jelly in the inside
2:37
There's kind of orange jelly in there. Well, it's a bit like a jam
2:41
Okay. Yeah, like a marmalade. That's not something that you would go for
2:46
I don't think so. Are you dunkers, though? Would you dunk a biscuit
2:50
I dunk a biscuit. Yeah. I would dunk it, yeah. A cookie, I should say
2:54
But I don't want jelly in something I'm dunking, right? I know
2:58
I see where you're coming from. That's just a mess. Well listen Sydney we were just talking off air about morning routines Talk me through yours What the kind of average mornings for you I wake up I usually ice roll my face
3:13
Yeah, it's a great way to wake yourself up. Really? I'll take my dog out. I was going to say, I normally get licked by fishy breath. That's not my husband
3:20
But that is normally one of my dogs. I have a really old one who's 14 and then a rescue
3:26
I'm ambassador for Battersea Cats and Dogs Home. So I've got a little puppy we just rescued
3:30
So your puppy is a relatively new arrival, is that right? Yes, I have a puppy and then I have a 10 and a half year old rescue
3:37
Are you getting separation anxiety from the puppy? I am. I think my mom is trying to steal him from me
3:42
Oh, not fair. But at least being grandma, you know he's being looked after properly
3:48
What kind of favourite puppy you got? He's a German Shepherd. Oh, okay, lovely
3:52
He's very smart. He's already learned how to open every door. No way
3:57
He's very, very smart. He just runs and belly flops into the pool
4:01
Right. That's great. I love it. Super cute. And Julianne, am I right in saying that you have British citizenship
4:09
I do. Yeah, yeah. I have a passport. My mother was from Scotland. She's from Greenock
4:14
That's the red hair. I know, yeah. It's Scottish. How amazing. So do you ever get up there
4:19
Do you have family up there still? I haven't been up there in a really long time. I do have, most of my relatives were elderly and they passed away
4:26
but it's a beautiful place. I love it, I love it up there
4:31
But it's great to come in, once I had my, I was standing in line to come into the UK
4:34
and somebody said you in the wrong line I was like no I not Look here No I not here look at this Thank you very much Look at this Thank you very much And Sydney how about you You spend much time over here
4:46
Have you? I do. My little brother is actually in the Air Force and he's stationed here
4:51
Oh wow. Yeah. Gosh that's amazing. I know so I try to come here and see him as much as possible
4:56
And what do you like most about the UK? I mean you guys are just so much fun
5:00
You guys are a boss. I'm going about it though. Yeah. That's good
5:04
That's kind of you to say. Well, listen, it's lovely to have you both here with us this morning
5:10
Echo Valley is out this Friday. Yeah, it's super exciting. It's on Apple. Obviously, we just watched Sirens as well
5:15
Are we allowed to say that? I literally just finished it. Oh, did you
5:18
Were you surprised? I was really surprised because, and I watched it with my daughter
5:22
She's 19 and I have a 13-year-old door slammer, as we said earlier. Right. And we both kept saying, oh, your character
5:30
I know. And then at the end, we were both like, oh, no, I quite like her. I don't think she's just bad. And then when you're on the, well, I don't want to kill it for everyone
5:36
Yeah, yeah. But yeah, so it's a really, I felt really bad for your character
5:41
I know, she ends up being pretty admirable, actually. She's sort of a cool woman
5:46
And you realize she's crying really hard to make it better for the other women
5:49
Yes, yes. So it was a really brilliant film. Watch it with your daughter. I urge you both to try a Jaffa cake before you do it
5:56
I'm not dunking it. Don't dunk it. I didn't even offer them a hot drink
6:01
That's so ridiculous. Sydney Sweeney and Julianne Moore. Thank you for coming in, guys
