Vivint Comfort IQ first look: How Vivint’s whole-home AI cuts HVAC energy use
Oct 6, 2026
Vivint announced Comfort IQ, an AI-powered energy management platform designed to cut unnecessary HVAC runtime while maintaining occupant comfort. The update underscores how integrated smart-home data can automate heating and cooling decisions. Vivint Comfort IQ uses signals from compatible sensors, security devices, and thermostat activity to predict occupancy and adjust climate settings. The AI energy management system operates within the Vivint smart thermostat ecosystem to streamline HVAC energy savings without manual schedules. A year-long independent study by Tierra Resource Consultants of 50,000 Vivint households found a 13% average runtime reduction and about $210 in annual savings, up to $300 in some regions. The feature requires a Vivint Smart Thermostat and supports select utility demand-response programs. Actual savings vary.
