So we've got some breaking news
0:01
The Mets Terrorism Unit has confirmed the Irish band Kneecap are now officially under investigation
0:07
This is the band where apparently one of the singers urged people to
0:11
said the best Tory MP is a dead one, kill your local MP. Yeah
0:15
So they're now under investigation. Joining us now is GB News, Home Security Edson Mark White

This goes on and on, this story. Yeah, it's a right old mess, this one. And it relates to a couple of incidents, basically
0:28
in which, at concerts, this band or members of the band Kneecap
0:34
were recorded saying some hateful things, yes, about Tory MPs. That was in November of 2023 at the Electric Ballroom in Camden
0:46
They wouldn't be the first band to say hateful things about Tory MPs. Indeed, but I think it probably, you could argue
0:52
crossed over into incitement because it was the only good Tory MP
0:56
is a dead Tory MP, go and kill you. local Tory MP type thing
1:01
And then in November 2024, another concert, this time at the O2 in London
1:07
in which the band were heard telling the audience that they supported Hamas, a prescribed terrorist group
1:16
So, given that, that is why the Metropolitan Police have been called on to investigate
1:21
And this is a band that got a £15,000 grant from the last government as part of exporting music overseas
1:29
Kemi Bainock blocked the grant, then went to appeal, and Labour dropped the appeal
1:34
So have they still got the £15,000? Listen, I think the £15,000 is the very least of their concerns now
1:40
The tour promoters are cancelling gigs right, left and centre. There another few gigs that were planned for Germany in the summer that have been cancelled because of all the controversy swirling around Let me just bring you what the Metropolitan Police have said in a statement that worth reading out They said
1:58
On 22 April we were made aware of an online video believed to be from a music event in London November 24
2:05
Following this we were made aware of a further video believed to be from another music event in November 23
2:11
That was at the Electric Ballroom in Camden. Both videos were referred, it says
2:15
to the Counterterrorism Internet Referral Unit for assessment by specialist officers who have determined there are grounds
2:23
for further investigation into potential offences linked to both videos. The investigation, they say, is now being carried out
2:31
by the Mets Counter-Terror Command. With regard to the comments that were made about Tory MPs
2:38
and the only good one is a dead one, that might not have fallen under the counter-terrorism unit
2:45
in terms of the investigation. However, the second allegation certainly does. Professing any support for a prescribed terrorist organisation
2:55
like Hamas would be a criminal offence. So that could potentially... And the timing of that, Matt
3:01
did they declare their support for Hamas after the massacre? Yes, it was. It was November 2024
3:09
So, yes, it was after the horrific events on October 7th. I think it is absolutely outrageous that politicians are deciding who can and can't play at concerts
3:23
That's the thing that sets a very dangerous precedent, because they've said that they shouldn't be able to perform at Glastonbury
3:29
You could write out the lyrics of so many songs throughout history which are problematic
3:33
Particularly rappers. There's lots of artists defending them now. Paul Perthere, Paul Weller, Primal Screen, DJ Annie Mack
3:40
There's a lot of people in the music industry coming out and saying to politicians, get away from our music it's got nothing to do with you i have to say i'm with them
