The Chibi News Daily Reflection

Hello, my name is Marjorie and I'm a Baptist minister in the City Centre Church in Sheffield

The Bible is a grand story. It's the story of creation and the cosmos, of God and his people
0:19
the beginning and the end. And we are invited to find our place in the story
0:24
We know the end of the story. It's a story that ends in a good way with ultimate victory
0:30
The story concludes at the end of the book of Revelation chapter 22
0:35
actually with an invitation. Come, let anyone who is thirsty come. William Holman Hunt was a British artist in the 1800s
0:47
and he painted a beautiful, vibrant painting based on an earlier chapter of the book of Revelation
0:53
which is displayed today in St. Paul's Cathedral. In the painting there is a large door and Jesus is knocking on the door
1:02
but there is no handle on that side of the door. The beautiful hinges on the door indicate that it can only be opened
1:10
if the resident inside chooses to open the door. The other side of the door appears never to have been opened yet
1:19
The painting is entitled Jesus the Light of the World and it is based on Revelation 3
1:24
where the words of God are recorded. Look, I stand at the door and knock
1:30
and if you hear my voice and open the door I will come in and we will share a meal together as friends
1:39
It is the same invitation that God is present. He knocks on the door of our hearts
1:45
and we may choose to open that door and meet with him
