The Chibi News Daily Reflection
0:04
Hi, I'm Chris Tufnell, the vicar of Utterbridge Parish Church. You may know the much-loved children's story, We're Going on a Bear Hunt
0:15
A family set out on an adventure to find a bear, and on the way they come across all sorts of obstacles
0:22
A grassy field, a river, a muddy bog, a forest, a snowstorm
0:26
and finally a cave where the bear lives. And with every new obstacle, the family repeats the same refrain
0:34
We can't go over it. We can't go under it. Oh, no, we've got to go through it
0:40
And so they do through the grass, the river, the mud, the forest, the storm
0:44
Until they get to the cave, they tiptoe in, discover the bear and run terrified all the way back home
0:53
You know, I think that's not a bad description of life and the problem of death
0:59
In life we come across obstacle after obstacle after obstacle and we learn to go through it to triumph to overcome But in the end we all faced with an obstacle we can overcome The problem of death We can
1:15
go over it. We can't go under it. We've got to go through it. So everyone goes into the cave
1:21
but no one comes out alive. Except Christians believe there was someone who was buried in a
1:29
cave, a stone was rolled across the entrance. And while inside, he defeated the terror within
1:36
And as it were, punched through the back of that cave, turning it into a tunnel through which we
1:42
can now pass unscathed. Jesus said, I am the resurrection and the life. Do you believe this
1:52
And Christians believe that if we do, he takes us by the hand and leads us through death
1:59
and out the other side
