Irish farmer slams ‘sickening’ treatment of demonstrators as he makes passionate case for protest

Well it's actually worse than that Martin because the government said they

would meet with the protesters and the protesters left here round about an hour

ago marched up the hill to the Doyle and then didn't seem to be brought in at all

in fact they seem to be talking to someone else and I have Simon Dunne one

of the protesters with me Simon who are they talking to? I'm not exactly sure who

they're talking to we went up with the most honest hard-working people you know

they're feeding the nation and they all they wanted to do is ignore us at the

door the letters walk up we walked up with a coffin representing Ireland the

hard-working taxpayers who feed everybody and they just They just ignored us

It's sickening, the way they treated us. I think they think that food grows on supermarket shelves If they don come along and cop themselves on they better be good gardeners because this country is going to go to the dogs and people are going to starve We had great goodwill from all the people in Dublin that come out and gave us food

They welcomed us, they guardied, they were great. There was no problem. There was no violence

As we look here now, we're surrounded with paddy wagons. I think they're trying to incite violence to try to wind us up

we're not going to play into that game. Yes, because as we speak here now

there is a serious amount of public disorder wagons circling O'Connell Street

I think that's what they're doing. I think they're absolutely delusional, what you call it

because the whole of Ireland is behind us now Every working man in the country and woman are behind us And what will you do I don know what we going to do We might just have to give up and let the government

deal with the nation. Go on strike. I think there will have to be, what do you call it, the country will just have to shut

down and people will just have to stay at home to you know that'll make them open their eyes to

sort of see we can't live without you know the hard-working people of this country i don't know

but people are amazed that they're talking about bringing the army and to break this up yeah it's absolutely stupid so it's like i don't know what kind of drugs they're on you know because

um we have been nothing only you know peaceful we walked up to the gates with a coffin in silence

as if we were at a funeral. Well there you go, as if they were at a funeral

And that's the feeling on this high street today. It is absolutely packed with tractors luries buses all people who create jobs who create wealth who make everything not only grow it but they move it around the whole island of Ireland and the government doesn seem to be wanting

to back down from their position on this. This is going to get much

much worse Martin I'm afraid I think it may be our thing right now I just can't believe that they won't meet the protesters

I mean these boys are serious and it's spreading to Belfast on Tuesday it's going north of the border

it's going to be all over the shop, they need to meet with these people So, Dougie, we've seen this time and time again about the immigration protests

Sit down and talk to them. Well, this is it. I listened to your last contributor talking about home heating oil

And when we were listening to that, it was said to me, well, you know, that was for the people on benefits

This is for the people that actually create jobs, that create wealth through the tax system

And they are saying to the government, please drop the carbon taxes

drop so much of these taxes that you have on the fuel

that it's actually making everything cost much more and that the government themselves are making more and more money out of

It is an ever-decreasing circle, to be honest about it, and these guys here have really just had enough
