The Chibi News Daily Reflection
0:04
Hello, my name is Marjorie and I am a Baptist leader in the city of Sheffield
0:11
The theme of this week is dealing with our anger and bitterness
0:16
I wonder what makes you angry? Often, of course, when we have a short fuse and get angry and frustrated by stupid stuff that doesn't really matter
0:26
it is a sign that we are unfulfilled or maybe that we are lacking something vital in ourselves
0:34
Perhaps we carry a much deeper pain or resentment, even bitterness. Anger of course is not necessarily
0:42
bad in itself, emotions are healthy. Jesus in the Bible gets angry which is interesting
0:48
A righteous anger rises up in him in the temple when he sees that God's people have turned God's
0:55
house which should be a house of prayer into a money exercise and he overturns their tables But Jesus also spoke about anger as a sin and he spoke about us dealing with our anger in Matthew gospel He says clearly not to
1:12
let the sun go down on our anger. In other words, if there is a conversation to have, a prayer to
1:18
pray, an action to take, then we should take this step without delay. The instruction which follows
1:25
later in the book of James in the Bible in chapter 1 is really helpful in this respect
1:31
My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this. Everyone should be quick to listen
1:38
slow to speak and slow to become angry because human anger does not produce the righteousness
1:44
that God desires. Therefore get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent
1:51
and humbly accept the word of God which can save you
