what are the best seven cruisers for
0:03
your return to cruising in 2021
0:06
I'm Gary beverage this is another of my
0:09
cruising tips for travelers I want to
0:11
talk to you about the cruises that I
0:12
think you should be thinking about if
0:14
you're thinking of going back cruising
0:16
in 2021 I did a survey amongst various
0:19
people watching the channel got loads
0:21
and loads of replies and without the
0:23
shadow it out by the vast majority most
0:26
people were talking about returning to
0:27
cruising in 2021 because that's when
0:30
people felt that Christmas is going to
0:31
be back and running procedures in place
0:33
and it was kind of safe to go cruising
0:36
again so I thought let's think about the
0:38
best cruisers that you should consider
0:40
or have on your list to look at to go
0:43
cruising in 2021 and I must admit these
0:45
are the ones that I'm looking at myself
0:47
because I think they're the right ones
0:48
to do so how did I choose these seven
0:50
cruisers well first of all I took a look
0:52
at what are the big cruising regions of
0:55
the big popular regions historically and
0:57
the reason I did that is first of all
0:59
because there's lots and lots of cruise
1:01
lines and ships servicing those regions
1:03
so what's important about that is you
1:05
can have lots of choice so this will
1:06
also no matter what your budget is all
1:08
type of cruising you like your party
1:09
cruising more sedate cruising big ships
1:12
small ship there's likely to be an
1:13
option for you within all of these
1:15
cruises secondly these are destinations
1:19
regions and ports that are very good up
1:21
to tourism so they are more likely to be
1:23
up and running have procedures in place
1:25
and make sure that they have got back to
1:27
operating in a safe efficient and a good
1:30
way they're like really fully fully
1:32
staffed and just running really slickly
1:34
and then I also took a look at cruises
1:37
that I still think other must use any
1:39
one sort of cruising portfolio the
1:41
cruises that I really think are really
1:42
really worth doing this should almost be
1:44
on your wish list or your bucket list so
1:46
let's take a look at those cruises
1:48
starting with this one
1:50
I do think looking at a transatlantic
1:53
cruise particularly a crossing on Kanade
1:57
Queen Mary - should be on the list the
1:59
reason I chose this is first of all of
2:01
course it's a big iconic trip it's a
2:02
famous trip that Queen Mary 2 is the
2:04
only full ocean liner design to ship
2:07
every other ship is a cruise liner but
2:09
also importantly if you're nervous or
2:11
worried about going out cruising the
2:13
with a transatlantic treaty on the Queen
2:15
Mary - if you only have two ports you
2:17
have South Hampton although you can
2:18
actually go from Hamburg as well but
2:20
largely speaking you have South Hampton
2:21
and you have New York so the rest of it
2:23
is days at sea up to seven days at sea
2:26
so in terms of worrying about different
2:28
ports and all the complexities of that a
2:30
crossing is going to give you a
2:31
magnificent cultured very unique
2:34
experience lots of dressing up and lots
2:37
of entertainment and all sorts of things
2:38
to do but it's also gonna be the one
2:41
that involves limited words it's also
2:42
two really big well-established
2:44
invocation and disembarkation ports so
2:46
it's really going to be the least
2:48
stressful in many ways crossing on
2:51
Kamino - in 2001 is something definitely
2:53
that I will be doing the second cruise I
2:56
recommend you look at is a Caribbean
2:58
cruise now you actually have three
2:59
options here you have an eastern or
3:01
western and a southern the reason I
3:04
chose the Caribbean is the Caribbean is
3:05
the biggest cruising region in the world
3:08
before the shutdown and it will be again
3:11
so it's again a region that's gonna be
3:14
really fast to gear up they're really
3:16
going to the so reliant on cruising and
3:18
I believe that we're gonna find that
3:20
this is one of the earliest regions to
3:22
get up and running again because of its
3:23
importance its closeness to the big
3:28
poor little glades Port Canaveral and
3:30
it's also a place that people want to go
3:32
to you know sunshine beaches and you
3:35
know it's true holiday region so I think
3:37
this is one to consider now there's
3:39
three different itineraries but if
3:40
you're feeling a little bit cautious why
3:42
not consider actually going on a shorter
3:45
cruise so you get these little for now
3:47
to finite or sometimes five night of
3:49
cruises out of Miami or Fort Lauderdale
3:51
largely and these will tend to either
3:54
just go to the cruise lines private
3:57
island and perhaps a little stop on the
3:59
main part of the Bahaman Islands or they
4:01
might combine just going to the Bahamas
4:04
with sea days so again it's a relatively
4:06
it's a shorter trip it's a very kind of
4:09
lockdown trip where the ports will be
4:11
really controlled everything be
4:12
controlled so you might wanna consider
4:13
that but there is the Eastern Caribbean
4:16
which is a great itinerary only seven
4:18
days itinerary that's gonna include
4:20
place like San Juans and Thomas and
4:23
Kitts and Lucia st. Maarten if you go on
4:26
which is really popular cause you know
4:28
the Mexican ports like Cozumel for
4:30
example but you what we gonna go to
4:31
places like Grand Cayman Belize City
4:35
places like that the Southern Caribbean
4:37
will often be slightly longer cruises
4:39
but you're going to go to places like
4:40
Barbados and lucious and kids so lots of
4:43
choices in the Caribbean and it's
4:45
definitely one to consider great
4:46
sunshine holiday to head back out to sea
4:49
and again it really will get locked down
4:51
because it's such a big important region
4:52
if you're looking at cruising later near
4:54
so in the middle of the year so a lot of
4:56
cruising action shifts from the
4:57
Caribbean around about April time switch
5:00
about September October time of course
5:01
you can cruise the Caribbean all year
5:03
round but a lot of it shifts to Europe
5:05
and so the next bunch of cruises I want
5:06
to talk about are really linked to the
5:09
sort of European cruising experience one
5:12
of those that I would have very high on
5:13
the list and strongly recommend you
5:15
consider is the Norwegian fjords so
5:17
Norwegian fjords cruise is a phenomenal
5:19
cruise and again should be very high on
5:22
your list of places to go the reason for
5:26
that is you are gonna have very long
5:28
days because it gets dark barely at all
5:32
in the peak season all the time that
5:34
you're sailing you and me selling
5:36
through a phenomenal beautiful scene we
5:37
go really far inland so it's a
5:39
magnificent way to spend seven days you
5:41
can do those out of various different
5:42
ports around Europe for example out of
5:46
Southampton the UK you have a Dead Sea
5:49
you'll go to various places whether it's
5:50
Bergen Flom Karanga fued various places
5:55
like that and you'll have a sea day
5:56
coming back really really it's a
5:58
phenomenal fantastic place to go the
6:01
other cruise that I think you should
6:03
consider and Guinness is particularly
6:05
true if you're perhaps more UK pound or
6:07
you're including the UK as part of a
6:09
bigger trips or a lot of Australians
6:11
will come to Europe and spend time in
6:12
Europe doing some land-based things but
6:15
certainly if you want to do a fantastic
6:17
cruise I recommend you do around the UK
6:19
and Island cruise in the season there's
6:21
lots and lots of choice to do this and
6:23
you will normally head out at 10 some of
6:25
them will head out of Dover someone
6:26
actually head out even out of London so
6:29
out of Greenwich or Tilbury some of the
6:31
ports near London and some of the got a
6:33
smaller ports like Dover or Portsmouth
6:35
or what's like that and you're basically
6:38
cruise around the UK you
6:40
normally : at least into Dublin
6:42
sometimes some other ports you'll head
6:44
ride around the top of the UK you'll go
6:46
to places like Edinburgh you'll get a
6:48
chance to see the beautiful and amber
6:49
castle and you're called various
6:51
different ports along the way so you
6:53
might come to places like Newcastle or
6:55
places some Wales and so this is a great
6:57
great cruise if you also want to go
6:59
somewhere that see lots places you
7:01
haven't seen before but again close to
7:03
home or you want to be based out of
7:05
London around the UK and Ireland is
7:07
becoming really really popular Cruise
7:09
and I would have it higher on the list
7:10
because it's definitely a great wave
7:11
scene the UK and Ireland the next
7:15
suggestion I have is the Mediterranean
7:16
and the Mediterranean is actually the
7:18
second biggest cruising region so
7:20
certainly a lot of the ships will move
7:22
from the Caribbean into the
7:23
Mediterranean and they're the first of
7:25
the Mediterranean cruises I recommend is
7:27
more than the central Mediterranean
7:28
cruises Noora these will go out of
7:30
Barcelona or they'll often go out of
7:33
Rome the port design of Rome to jevetta
7:35
the advantage with these is you get to
7:37
see a great slice of Europe so you'll
7:40
you go to Barcelona see all the
7:41
beautiful Gaudi buildings you often go
7:45
to laverna so you can I head off to
7:46
pizza see the leaning tower of pizza or
7:48
go to the beautiful city of Florence and
7:49
of course in Rome you'll get to see all
7:51
the beautiful parts of Rome and you'll
7:53
normally have other places we might go
7:54
to Monte Carlo or go to Marseille so
7:56
you'll get to see a slice of different
7:58
countries here Spain you'll see France
7:59
you see Italy that definitely is a great
8:01
cruise to do and the reason that I think
8:03
it's worth considering is both Barcelona
8:05
Rome our major cruising ports and
8:07
although both those countries suffered
8:10
really badly through the whole virus and
8:13
they will have a lot of focus getting
8:15
those up and running and being ready to
8:17
receive tourists again in 2021 and no
8:20
doubt will also be very grateful for the
8:22
support that they get during that time
8:23
and there are magnificent beautiful
8:26
historical places to go and see so
8:28
definitely that's one to consider my
8:30
next suggestion is also linked to the
8:31
Mediterranean this is one of the most
8:33
magnificent cruises which is actually
8:35
the cruiser goes between Venice and
8:36
Athens all obviously though around
8:37
Athens to Venice it's really popular so
8:40
there's ginn lots and lots of choice
8:41
here you get to see a different side you
8:43
obviously it's the really historic and
8:45
important city of Venice you can see
8:46
there very historic and important city
8:47
of Athens so pre stays either is very
8:50
important but you also get to cruise
8:52
down the sort of for the
8:54
call the Dalmatian coast you'll get to
8:55
see places like Dubrovnik which
8:56
particularly if you're a Game of Thrones
8:58
fan some of it was filmed there we might
9:01
get a split you'll go to kotor which is
9:03
in montenegro which is a magnificent
9:05
beautiful historic city and you'll get
9:07
to see some of the amazing greek islands
9:09
like Santorini and Mykonos this is a
9:12
really really great option a great thing
9:14
to choose because you do get to see some
9:15
really beautiful and important slices of
9:17
Europe so what then is my seventh cruise
9:21
Alaska Alaska is a very fast growing
9:24
really popular cruising region in 2020
9:28
the massive disruption to the whole
9:30
Alaska season with lots of ports being
9:32
closed and it's only at the time of
9:34
recording so we don't even know if it is
9:35
going to be an Alaskan season Alaska is
9:37
a magnificent absolute must-do place to
9:40
go you can go out of in fact from a far
9:43
away as San Francisco which of course
9:45
was closed to all cruises in 2020 you
9:48
can go out of Seattle you can go out of
9:51
Vancouver and lots of lots of different
9:54
ports and choices to go to I would
9:56
recommend if you're going to let's cover
9:57
the first time take a look at the inside
9:59
passage cruise could you go to all the
10:00
famous places like Juneau you may go
10:03
into clacey Bay or good it's the other
10:05
glacés depending on your cruise you'll
10:07
go to Skagway get Transco on the
10:10
Magnificent Skagway train so depending
10:12
on your cruise you may go to some
10:14
slightly different places some smaller
10:16
places more out-of-the-way places if
10:17
you're going on a small ship for example
10:19
but definitely Alaska would be one of
10:21
those to think and plan for doing in
10:24
2021 as you look at heading back
10:26
cruising so those are my tips around the
10:28
seven cruises to look at as you head
10:30
back cruising in 2201 a lot of you
10:32
watching this will probably be looking
10:34
at how do you use your future cruise
10:36
credit those are the ones that I would
10:38
focus on those are the ones that I think
10:40
will be up and running B smoothly
10:42
running we really set up and organized
10:44
for cruising as we head through 2021
10:47
hopefully actually I'll see you on many
10:48
of those cruises because a lot of those
10:50
I'm looking at planning doing myself I
10:52
have loads more videos about cruising so
10:55
why don't you watch another one of those
