Hello and welcome to another episode of Darth Maul Shadow Lords Up and Downs and this is for episode 5
0:08
Absolutely brilliant episode, a bit slower than some of the others but still a brilliant episode
0:14
So let's get started and see what our ups and downs are for this episode
0:18
So our first up goes straight to the music and a nice little kind of remix of Maul music plus some Imperial March
0:26
I thought that was a really cool addition and a nice way of kind of tying in the Star Wars of old with some of the Star Wars of new
0:33
And I'm sorry I'm going to give another up for the artwork. The Stormtroopers look really really good
0:39
It exaggerates their look on the background with the kind of painted backdrop with the 3D animation effects of the Stormtroopers
0:47
I thought that was really cool so it's getting an up from me. Next we have Daki showing why he is the Jedi Master
0:54
He's absolutely brilliant. He is very seasoned. He knows what he's talking about
0:59
It's a shame that he's a new character and we couldn't have seen in previous works. But yep, he's getting up some real wise words given to Devon about their current situation
1:09
I am really worried about the fate of Daki. Someone this smart and powerful never usually lasts very long in a Star Wars show
1:17
And I'm giving this an up because I've already seen the episode. I just thought this little quip from the lieutenant saying that at least we weren't harboring Jedis was just a little funny throwaway line for those that have watched it a second time, knowing what's going to happen at the end of the episode
1:33
It made me chuckle re-watching this episode. So, yeah, there's an up
1:38
And I'm going to give an up. Even though I hate the Empire, I've got to give an up for the sass and the finger click
1:44
This guy is taking no prisoners, but it doesn't mean he can't be mean
1:49
mean and sassy in the process and you know what love am i hating the empire is efficient
1:56
they know how to lock down a city and search for someone they are doing their job we hate them
2:04
they're the baddies but they can do a job so you know what an up for effective job management
2:10
and we're going to give up the spy bot i feel like i give spy bottom up every time he appears on
2:14
screen but you know what for the shiny impies reference talking about how these are brand new
2:19
clone troopers reference to some previous animations but yeah spy bots getting it up for
2:25
just the shiny impies line it's really funny and we're giving it up to vero for his master
2:30
manipulation he's survived i didn't think he was going to last this long i am shocked
2:35
confronting mole not scared to speak out to mole and also mole knowing that he still will be useful but tell him to go off and face the empire himself and the fact that he is still alive um really shows that maul may use him but he doesn expect
2:52
him to last long with the empire around but credit the viewer he's going strong he's still fighting
2:58
for himself it'd be interesting to see where he goes later in the season or was this it for him
3:04
I honestly don't know. And we're going to give it up to Rook. She does not put up with any rubbish
3:09
They respect her. They may not agree with her, but they will do what she says
3:13
She's a really strong, independent character. And she's shown why Maul treats her as his next in command
3:21
And it's not someone you should mess with. She's really stepping up this episode, I feel
3:25
And this is just a personal down. Not necessarily slight on the episode, but two boots
3:30
Really letting us down. like he's meant to be a smart logical robot and he's got no clue what is going on thinking the
3:38
empire is great i know it's built into his protocols but you would think he would know
3:44
better and would listen to lawson on what is happening but two boots are just why smarten up
3:51
and again i feel this is going to be a redemption arc where he realizes things aren't going what he
3:56
expected and he's going to sacrifice himself god i can't even talk i'm that excited uh sacrifice
4:02
himself about protecting lawson and getting that redemption that he needs i'm going to give an up
4:09
to the empire again showing why they should be feared those scratch marks on the table are
4:16
terrifying the screams the torture who did it i'm sure we'll find out very soon but when lawson's
4:23
looking down to see that his justification of why he hates the empire is fully there horrible horrible
4:31
empire but amazing to watch on screen and i think i said this in a previous video we are seeing why
4:38
the empire is feared in this and i absolutely love this story and seeing this really dark side of the
4:45
empire and why people were so scared of them and our next up is the introduction of our inquisitor
4:50
Marok very very scary introduction walking in from the shadows very intimidating and again leading to
4:58
what I was saying before the fear of the empire but these inquisitors now coming into play and
5:04
them not knowing what an inquisitor is as well Lawson won't know who this is but yeah terrifying
5:10
stuff and a great introduction to this inquisitor that some people who've not seen some of the
5:15
previous animations or ahsoka might not know who he is i'm only giving up to daki once again
5:21
showing that he is wise one with the force and knows that devon is starting to lean towards maul not necessarily the dark side but starting to kind of have those doubts have those fears on what they need to do
5:36
about the empire and i feel like devon's also a little bit justified she should be scared of the
5:42
empire they are coming for maul but if they find out there's jedi there well it also puts them in
5:48
danger. Now I am going to give them a down in this situation as well simply because you know the
5:54
empire are walking around and they are hunting you yet you're taking the time to have a conversation
5:59
in full view. There's a time and a place guys get safe get hidden but no let's have a full
6:07
conversation and dialogue when literally stormtroopers are right next to them. These are
6:12
meant to be smart people and I'm going to give it down to two boots again. Let me down why two boots
6:17
he's getting interrogated and he doesn't see that as a bad thing not questioned not interviewed but
6:25
interrogated and he doesn't have a problem with his best friend his partner being interrogated by
6:31
the empire and he just kind of rubs it off your shoulder doesn't care why two boots this is your
6:37
friend your partner but we are going to give an up to Riley he's really stepping up Sean he is
6:44
lawson's blood and i know at the very start of the season riley had that whole teenager
6:49
and really showing his emotions and upset but he'll still stand by his dad and he will still
6:55
fight for his dad but nice one riley standing up to the empire i like him and i'm gonna give
7:00
an up for the force persuasion it's nice to see this getting used effectively and just it's a nice
7:06
throwback to the original in new hope as well i know lots of them use it in other things but every
7:11
time I say it it always brings that nostalgia back to Obi-Wan these are not the droids you are
7:16
looking for it's kind of like we are not the Jedi you are looking for and I really like that and I
7:21
always feel like that's a nice little nostalgic nod so it's getting up from me and you know what
7:25
I'm gonna give Devon up as well she's really stepping up showing the padawan and the ability
7:31
that she has taken on these stormtroopers she's showing her own against Daki which is great he's
7:40
trained her really well she's not fearful of these stormtroopers and she is wanting to escape
7:46
and she's willing to step out of line to do that and i'm really enjoying devon as a character i
7:52
feel like from what was on episode one to where we are now in episode five she's really come
7:58
together as a character and she's an interesting character to now watch and shown she has the
8:03
and that's why Maul is so interested in her. He can see the potential and we are now starting to see the potential of Devon as a jedi a sif or something in between i feel sorry for riley his mom is very empire focused he reaching out
8:20
saying look my dad is in trouble can you help and she doesn't step up so she's getting it down
8:27
how dare she not help her son she knows or must know what the empire is like or has she been
8:34
persuaded into thinking the empire is all good and doesn't see the dark side of it get that pun
8:40
there but yeah the mom's let the sun down so she's getting it down not necessarily down on the
8:46
episode but she's getting it down for ruin it for riley bad mom and we're getting it up for seeing
8:52
maroc and using force echoes it's a very rare skill we see um cal kestas used it greatly in
8:59
the games but it's nice to see it coming more into the tv shows and i thought this is a really
9:05
cool introduction for those that might not know what force echoes are but does that mean maruk
9:09
knows about daki and devon as well let's see what happens towards the end of next episode but yes
9:15
is he aware there are now jedi around does he know of lawson does that play into the fact of what
9:22
happens in the next episode which we'll talk about very very soon in a future video and we're going
9:27
give another up to Rook who's really been on it this episode really stepping up showing Maul why
9:32
she is a valuable asset we haven't really seen her much in previous episodes but in this one
9:38
she's really shown how intelligent she is her planning and the fact that she is constantly
9:43
being aware of her surroundings and what is happening on the planet and we're going to give
9:47
an up to Lawson and his calf addiction this man will go anywhere he can with his calf you'd think
9:55
he's taking a cup off his desk and driving with it this guy likes to be caffeinated and with
10:01
everything going on i can totally understand it and our final up goes to riley and lawson showing
10:07
why they are good people and riley showing why he is lawson's son they are willing to step up for
10:13
what they know is right and bringing in some jedi fugitives nice little reference to the start of
10:19
episode pre-shadowing what was happening but yeah brilliant up brilliant episode a bit slower than
10:26
the rest but still really enjoyable um i hope you guys enjoyed it let me know what you thought about
10:32
episode 5 of maul shadow lord make sure you check out some of our previous ups and downs as well
10:37
and make sure they stick around for the episode 6 up and down coming very soon and also we're doing
10:43
weekly reviews myself and luke are looking at both episodes every monday and tuesday so check
10:49
those out but for now thank you for watching please subscribe and as always may the force be with you
