Putin on Russia’s Priorities for the CSTO Chair in 2026

On January 1, Russia officially assumes the role of Chair of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) for 2026.
President Vladimir Putin has outlined the key priorities of Russia’s chairmanship, focusing on strengthening collective security, institutional development, and enhanced cooperation among CSTO member states.
The priorities include consolidating member states, improving CSTO governing bodies, strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation, developing collective security forces, expanding cooperation in military medicine and biological protection, countering terrorism and extremism, combating drug and arms trafficking, addressing transnational organized crime and terrorist financing, enhancing international information security, and improving efforts to combat illegal migration.
Preparations will also begin for the 25th anniversary of the CSTO and the 35th anniversary of the signing of the Collective Security Treaty, to be marked in 2027.
This video marks the beginning of Russia’s CSTO chairmanship, with footage prepared in cooperation with MIR TV and Radio Company.
