Good morning and welcome back to Good Night, New York. I'm Carter
0:04
And I'm Cooper. We're the Twin Trip reporters. Today is Tuesday, April 15th, and it's Jackie Robinson Day
0:10
The anniversary of Robinson's debut in Major League Baseball in 1947. We're looking forward to seeing all the players in 42
0:17
Of course, we're most excited to see number 42 on the Yankee Pinch Rep jerseys
0:21
The Yanks are facing off with the Kansas City Royals tonight at Yankee Stadium. But first, we're talking to Colonel Rosanna
0:27
What? Whoa! Who the heck are you two sitting in our seats? First, they're stealing our jobs
0:33
Cooper, Carter, that was impressive. First of all, thanks for being on Good Day, or are we on your show
0:38
Thank you so much for having us. Yeah, thank you. All right, so I'll start with you, Carter
0:42
How did this get started here? First of all, you're 10 years old, right? 10, we're both 10, yes
0:47
Who's older? Me, I'm older. By how many? One minute. One minute
0:51
Yeah. And does he ever let you forget it? No, never. And he never will
0:55
How did you guys get started with this? So we've always been big Yankee fans
1:00
We used to go to a bunch of Yankee games, and then we just started going to a few autograph signings
1:05
and we started asking players some questions, and it turned into interviews, and they really liked it
1:10
and we really liked it, and we had a lot of fun with it. So we just kept doing it. It's really fun
1:15
Cooper, how old were you when you started doing the interviews? I think we were nine turning ten
1:20
Okay, so about a year or so ago? Yeah, a year or so. Okay. So who are some of the fun people you talk to
1:25
There's a lot of fun Yankees you talk to. Cece Sabathia. Yeah, he's been on our show
1:29
Azwoldo Cabrera. Yeah. Nick Swisher, Dallas Strawberry, Doc Gooden. Did you talk to Aaron Judge
1:36
We did for like a minute. Okay, well, we talked to him longer. Yeah
1:41
Who was your favorite that you've interviewed? My favorite interview so far was Azwoldo Cabrera just because he was so nice
1:49
He's such a hard worker, too. I think that was just the coolest interview. Cooper, who was your favorite
1:53
I think I have to say Nick Swisher. He was so energetic. he has so much enthusiasm. Yeah, Nick Swisher. You guys like the old timers. Yeah. We meet a lot of old time Yankees. I like it. So how do you balance this big hobby that you have with school work? Like in the morning, most school work and then most events are in like afternoon, night kind of. Do you take off from school to go to an event? So we're actually homeschooled. So we get to do our work in the
2:26
morning. I like that. Yeah. How many Yankee games have you been to? In my life? A lot
2:32
Probably about like 50, 60, something. Really? Yeah. Wow. And you went to opening day for
2:37
the first time this year? Yeah. It was so fun. It was only been to opening day once, but
2:41
it was a great opening day. How was it? It was really fun. Oswells had the leadoff home
2:45
run. The Yankees won, obviously, so it was really fun. And is there a game tonight? Yes
2:52
I think there's a big game tonight. What are we looking forward to tonight
2:56
I mean, we think we're going. And I look forward to seeing Max Fried on the mound
3:03
You know, he just had a really good start, so I'm looking forward to see that. Yeah, seven innings, last start
3:08
And yesterday the Yankees won, and they're looking for the second straight win
3:12
They had four home runs, solo shots. So I'm thinking you guys really don't want my job
3:18
You want his job. Kind of. Kind of? Okay we great friends You surviving Hey let me ask you this Carter I ask you Do you know what nerd means yes are you baseball nerds or do you oh you are big baseball words yes i didn know if you
3:34
just like doing the tv part or the social media part or you're big baseball yeah all three all
3:39
three all three yeah you could we know a lot about baseball we like read books on like stats and stuff
3:45
yeah the biggest part of doing it all is you have to read every day tell me about it oh so give me
3:51
a stat that you think probably would impress Yankee fans? A what
3:56
A stat that would impress Yankee fans. Or some fact that maybe Yankee fans don't realize
4:01
This guy, this will blow your mind. Babe Ruth has only won one MVP
4:06
What? Yeah, it's because you could only win one back then, but it still wows me
4:11
You weren't allowed to win two. That's impressive. That's a great one
4:15
Okay, so in 1934, Lou Gehrig won the Triple Crown. He had the most home runs, most batting average, most RBIs
4:23
He finished fifth in the MVP vote. Are you guys ready to go to WFAN and start a talk show
4:29
Yeah. Because you got stuff like that, and you can yell at callers when they call in and try to argue who should be in the Hall of Fame
4:34
You can do that. Don Mattingly should be in the Hall of Fame. Oh, Don Mattingly. Yeah, I agree. I agree. Why
4:39
Because Don Mattingly was probably the second-best yielding first baseman ever behind Keith Hernandez
4:45
Keith Hernandez? Yeah. He hit over 200 home runs. He won the 1985 AL MVP
4:51
He was just a really good player, and he deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. So I know that you love your Yankees
4:57
How do you feel about the Mets? Because they are also another home team
5:00
Well, our grandpa roots for Mets, and he helps us root for the Yankees
5:05
So we kind of root for each other, kind of. Okay, that's good. But if it wasn't for that
5:12
No? No. Interesting. I have a question for you guys. What's your guys' favorite baseball team
5:18
Oh. Now, we're not supposed to say anything because we're supposed to be impartial
5:23
Yes, we're unbiased here. So, let me ask you this. Speaking of favorites, I heard you're a Dallas Cowboys fan
5:30
Yeah. How does that go over in the house? Carter, what's your favorite football team
5:36
49ers. I thought we'd get one New York team between the two of you
5:41
No Giants fans, no Jets fans? No, our dad is a Giants fan
5:45
But that's close. We're looking good with the Giants. Come on. The Cowboys are probably so bad
5:51
I don't know. Okay. What? So, last question for me. I also heard that you take your dog Shelly
5:58
Yes. To games sometimes? Sometimes. Sometimes. Sometimes it's a lot for her, so we don't take her every day, but..
6:05
Does she like baseball? Yes. She likes baseball a lot. She wants almost caught a ball
6:11
No way. How? She... It hit her hand, but she had it
6:16
You got to train her better in the backyard. Yeah. Next time
6:20
All right, so what do you want to do here long term? I'm going to say, when you become an old man at, like, 15, what do you want to be doing
6:27
I want to do broadcasting for the Yankees. Okay. Broadcasting, reporting. Yeah
6:31
It just seems really fun. What you're doing. Okay, no, no, no, no
6:35
Not what we're doing. What other people are doing, you want to do. Just don't take our jobs
6:40
Okay. We'll go back there. Don't worry, don't worry. All right, guys, we can follow you on social media
6:44
Yeah. You're on Instagram. You're on X. That's all new. Your mom runs your account so everything is all on the up and up Thank you so much We can wait to see you Thank you so much for having us This is awesome This is awesome This is good to know Cooper and Carter Thomas
7:00
everybody, and your Instagram handle is TwinStrike. TwinStrike reporters. Yeah, TwinStrike reporters
7:06
Nice season. Good outfits, too, by the way. I like it. I like it. I think we should just
7:11
keep them around. What are you going to do for the rest of the day? I think we're planning
7:15
to go to the Yankees game, but we can stay here for a little bit if we want. I mean, you You know, we're going to do egg coloring next
7:21
Easter egg coloring. Egg coloring. We don't have eggs, though, because, you know, eggs are very expensive
7:27
Would you want to hang around with us? Sure. Yeah, that'd be great
7:31
I don't think you're getting them off camera anytime soon. Of course, Easter is this Sunday, and everyone seems to be talking about the price of eggs this year
7:38
Oh, yeah, we are, too. So if you want to keep the tradition of coloring Easter eggs, you have to get a little creative
7:44
Here with some budget-friendly egg-ternatives. Okay. Okay, some colorful things. Expert Paula Sullivan, lifestyle expert, the owner of Sully and Vanilla
7:54
Nice to have you back. Hi, guys. Thank you. Have you met Carter and Cooper? Yes, you guys
7:58
I'm so glad that there are kids here for this. This is so great. And you guys did such a good job
8:03
Thank you. So what are we going to do, Paula? Okay, so you guys, there was a study that just came out
8:07
Half of America is not dying Easter eggs this year. What? Because A, they're really expensive, but they're also, have you noticed, like, you go to the
8:13
store and they also don't have them. Right. Like, even if you're willing to buy them, they don't have them
8:17
Right. So we did some experimenting, my kids and I, over the weekend
8:22
And we did some alternative things. So have you guys seen these? Nice. These are super fun
8:26
This is the egg-mazing little product here. Is that an egg in there, though
8:32
I don't know who makes it. But look, it's a little machine. And these little egg goes around
8:36
And then you take a little marker. And you move it with the marker. And it draws on the little egg
8:41
That's fun. And then, look, you've got, like, a really cute, like, pretty centerpiece thing
8:46
I love that. You can also save. That's very different. It's so different, right
8:50
Then we did marshmallows. The marshmallows were good, but the marshmallows get a little sticky and a little gooey
8:55
So my daughter took the marshmallows. And you can get these little plastic needles
9:00
We took the marshmallows and some other gummy candies. And you see in the front there, she made a little candy necklace
9:05
You can wear and eat your marshmallows, which is super fun. You can grab any of that and just sew it on there, kind of
9:13
And then, you guys, we found like the golden king of alternative Easter eggs are white potatoes
9:22
So you have to have eight of them. I don't know how I feel about this, Paula. I know, I know. This is like very, you know, unconventional, I guess
9:29
Yes, that's the word we'll use. But you have to peel the potatoes. So what we found is that actually a can of potatoes already peeled works the most easily
9:37
I also didn't know you could buy canned potatoes already peeled. I did not either until I went searching for potatoes. So these are potatoes
9:41
Those are potatoes? Those are something like eggs? No, they look like eggs. Then look, we did them
9:46
But if you see here, look how nicely the dye goes right into them
9:50
That is a great trick. Isn't it so great? It is. Like if you don't eat them afterward, it costs a dollar and you just toss them
9:57
So you don't feel bad. So like a dollar per can and you get, I don't know, looks like 10 or 12. And in my house, no one wants to dye 12 eggs, right
10:03
They want to dye 60 of them. So like this is a better way
10:07
So, you know, hopefully people can still have some fun, even though the eggs aren't readily as readily available
10:13
So Paula, I love what you do. You like buy store things and then zhuzh them up We love to zhuzh you know You know I always love to do a zhuzh So this is the same cake three times right And all we done here we taken a little of this edible Easter grass
10:28
We've popped it on top. We've taken a chocolate bunny, stuck in the middle
10:33
Like, how cute is that centerpiece? When you're about to eat them over, you've got a centerpiece. Yeah, you've got a centerpiece, and you have a cake to eat so easy
10:38
This one, we just took our little row of peeps and smushed them on the side
10:44
You can even pop one in the middle of the cake. And then for the front cake, we're going to do, you know, we love the little bunny ears
10:51
So we're going to take the ears. We've popped them off. And we're literally just going to stick them into the cake
10:57
That's a great idea. Isn't that fun? That's fun, right? So fun, right? And then you have like a little cake
11:02
And then a little, you know, you can eat it. And you also have like a fun centerpiece
11:06
Which one's your favorite, boys? Which one's, guys? If I had to pick one, they're all great
11:10
But I like that one. Yeah, me too. I need to. It's like very elevated with the grass
11:14
And it looks cool, right? All right, Paula, come on down here. Okay, so we're moving on. So we're going to move on to these centerpieces
11:19
So we found a really easy, this is an easy and affordable way. These are just carrots with the greenery already on them
11:26
We put them in water. We put some daisies in the middle. I mean, how cute is that? Why does that look great
11:31
Why didn't I think of that? It's so fun. It's perfect. Yeah. It's perfect. I love it with the greens
11:35
And it kind of falls over. That looks so cool. So you've got like a little, you know, a nice thing
11:39
All right, Kurt, you can help with this. Okay. Because I know you love a project. Yes. You're going to take my trusty Guinness mug or Guinness pint
11:47
And you see we have flowers in a mug. We're going to put that inside of this
11:52
Put the entire mug in there? Put the entire thing in. Or the pint? The pint, yes
11:56
My trusty old Guinness pint. So then we've got like basically a vase within a vase
12:00
And then we're just going to take a bunch of jelly beans. And we're going to fill the outside of the vase
12:06
Now, it would take a while for us to actually cover the whole thing. But it could be a fun activity
12:10
Yeah, kids can do this. We're going to cover the outside in jelly beans, and then you have jelly beans and flowers in the middle
12:16
That is cool. I like how there's so much colors on it. It does, right? It looks really good
12:20
For the holidays, kids like color. They like color. Yeah, this is all attractive because it's really bright, right
12:26
All right, Paula, what else do you got? Okay, so then we're going to move on. So then we're going to take any leftover flowers
12:29
You can take and make a cute little centerpiece here. You can add a flower. We also made these cute little bunny rolls with just some crescent roll dough
12:37
So all you do, we're not going to do it on the show, but you're going to take the crescent roll
12:40
roll it into like a little snake and fold it into a figure eight and bake
12:45
and it comes out looking like a cute little bunny. You know what else
12:49
we did? These are fun. This is a little plastic egg filled with
12:53
like a charcuterie egg. With a little cheese, a little meat, a little fruit
12:59
so many options, but so little time. We are out of it, Carla
13:03
Are we out of it? The baskets. We have to hurry up. We have other people
13:07
coming on the show. We love you to death, But we do have other guests. So I spoke to the Easter Bunny this year for my family
13:12
and we're filling the Easter baskets with just things that the kids need this time of year
13:17
So a new bathing suit, a new pair of pajamas, a little book that somebody might like to read
13:22
You can pop a couple of Easter things in there, too. But good to stock up on the things that are already necessary
13:28
All right. It is wonderful stuff, a large variety. Where can people find you? Sullyandvanilla.com
13:33
I'm also at Butterfield Markets on the Upper East Side, Grease's Marketplace, and Fresh Direct
13:37
You guys don't worry about the baseball thing the morning show host you've already got down the that's really interesting
13:47
You know how to do that already thank you boys
