All right, it's going to be a glorious day in New York City
0:03
It's good news here, but it's rough down in Jersey here. We've got the pollen in the air stuff
0:10
You also get the wildfires. Is the wind blowing this way? Yeah, you know, well, okay, we had gusty winds over the last couple of days
0:16
That probably was an exacerbating factor for the fires to begin. It also is helping the pollen actually fly around, so allergies are also an issue
0:24
So, yes, it will look nice outside your window. We're expecting a nice weather day
0:29
However, we do have these slight problems that also come along with our weather pattern
0:33
Now, first, let's talk about the fires. I'm going to show you a map here, show you where we do have some active fires
0:38
If you haven't heard yet, there's a massive fire actually burning in Ocean County down in New Jersey
0:44
It started in Barnegat yesterday afternoon or actually around midday, I think around 1230 or so
0:49
And then it moved northward over towards Lacey Township. Now, on this map, it's also indicating to me that there's possibly a smaller fire happening just southwest of Jackson, New Jersey, near Plumstead, at least in that area
1:01
So be aware if you do live in these areas that this is happening at this hour
1:05
Now, let's talk about the Jones Road wildfire. That's the one I just showed you in Ocean County
1:10
Again as I mentioned it started around 1230 in Barnegat Township and then moved northward The winds were a little more blustery yesterday However today they a little bit lighter It did spread to Lacey Township and Ocean Township So far it has burned over 8 acres and it only 10 contained So we going to be hearing more about this as we move along
1:28
through our Wednesday here. Now, I wanted to show you this too. This is a smoke forecast indicating
1:33
that the smoke plume from the fire will be moving northward as we go into tonight. And it looks like
1:38
it's also going to be intensifying too. So if you have allergy issues, not just allergy issues
1:43
but any respiratory issues or your asthmatic, be aware that we are going to have those smoke
1:48
particulates in the air here in areas north of the northern Jersey Shore, like around Belmar
1:53
over towards Red Bank, even as far north as Newark, New Jersey, possibly, and even into
1:57
Staten Island. So this is something to be aware of, again, if you do have respiratory issues
2:02
Okay, as I mentioned, the winds are lighter today, so that should help with the firefighters
2:07
are going to start to contain this fire situation, hopefully. And this is also good for allergy
2:12
sufferers too. The pollen's been flying around a lot lately. Today, the winds will be lighter
2:16
so they should give you just a little bit of relief here. We do have some clouds that are rolling in across the region, but they are clearing out to the east, allowing for sunshine
2:23
to break through. And we're set up for a really nice day. We're looking at a high of 77 degrees
2:27
with all that sunshine. Tonight, we drop back to about 54. And we're in the 70s right through
2:32
the end of the week. And rain will come back to the region late Friday night. It will be here for
2:36
the first part of Saturday
